The reason that I am only listing resources for Celtic deities is because that is all that I am really familiar with. Sorry.
A good book on Celtic deities is "The Gods of the Celts" by Miranda Green

What kinds of Gods and Goddesses? Greek, Egyptian, Roman?
Try pantheon.org, or pantheon.com, I forget which...they have everything on Greco-Roman mythology.

Personally I wouldn't trust much off the Internet. Use a good library like a University library if you have one near you. Good Luck.

You might look at Edith Hamilton's Mythology or Bullfinches Mythology. They aren't on the net, but they are excellent sources.

Good luck with that.
I'm a Christian, but I'd be interested in reading your book when it comes out.

Well, there is only one 'true fact' about gods, and that is that they are mythological... they do not exist.
