As far as other old school hemis, the ones listed by other people are only the ones from Chrysler. Dodge Red Ram and Desoto Fire Dome engines were all different diplacements, and only had limited parts interchangability with the Chrysler Fire Power engines of the 50's.

The first Chrysler Hemi was a v-16 back in the 40's. Airplane. But on to your most likely question. The 331cu in was the first Hemi. The Fire Power was introduced in 1950 in the '51 models. The first 426 Hemi was assembled in Nov. 1963. '51-1971 then the 5.7 was introduced in the fall of 2002 for the 2003 models and continues on.

Well, they were big in the early 60's, and maybe the late 50's. as small as a 312 I believe. Not sure on the displacement #'s. But the most popular was the 426 Hemi, that was for Nascar, and NHRA sanctioned events, and such. Best to check Mopar history, or a forum specifically for Dodge power. Those would be your best bet.
