you would have to pay for consultation fee plus medications. that would be about $45 for the consult and $25-30 for the meds
goodluck!

Hi-
Ear mites are best controlled with a medication from the Vets office--this medication is supposed to kill on contact and is also supposed to kill the eggs that have been laid in the ear over time.
Remedies from stores I have found burn the cats ear badly, and seems to make the problem worse for the cat.
The ear medication that the Vet has applied to my cats ears cost $15, and it seems to have cleared the problem rapidly--
As far as vaccinations go.. I have found that the Feline Leukemia tests/ and the Feline Leukemia shot are the most expensive.
Your cat will have a series of shots and may or may not have them all at the first check-up==The main ones are Feline Leuk.., Rabies and Distemper.
Since your new Kitty is 11 months old he/she may be able to have them all at one time-I would tell you to take $50-$100 just to be safe--
That kitty will reward you double with attention for all you do for it!
Enjoy your new CAT!!!

He'll need shots on top of the exam and ear cleaning. Tell them up front you want the best care, but that you want to keep the costs for the first visit down. Ask him to give you a schedule of the shots and their prices and then you can prepare for future costs. Also inquire about neutering as that will run about $100+/- also. The mite thing is pretty common but if it is a severe case it might require a few treatments.

Good luck!

You can buy over the counter drops for a few dollars at pet stores and Walmart. My kittens were under 12 weeks and I couldn't give over the counter drops to them. My vet recommended Revolution. You put it on them like Frontline. It didn't do a thing and it was expensive for 4 kittens.

I started cleaning their ears out with mineral oil daily like many people have suggested and it seemed to do the trick.

They also have shots that they can take at the vet, but you have to take them twice and I think each shot was between $15 and $20 dollars.

Good Luck.

No you don't need the vet. Go to a store like Hannaford and then you just buy some Mineral Oil and some Q-tips. It worked on my dog. Just dip a Q-tip in the mineral oil( no not in their butt! ) then swab gently inside the ear ( make sure that it does'nt go inside the ear canal! ) Do this every day until they are all gone!
