My dear friend: I'm so pleased to hear you do not follow any 'Religion'!!
Religion is a 'Man Made' entity, and as far as I am concerned from the pit of hell: created to cause strife, war, division, hatred and all the other poop that goes with it!!
True 'Christianity' however is totally different: you follow a person in the being of Jesus Christ... not a man made religion!!
Being better, nicer, kinder, more generous etc is great, there are not many nice people about these days, or so it would seam as you read the papers or look at the news!!
But Being a 'Nice Person': 'Going to church': 'Reading the Bible': even 'Believing In God', and or 'Religion', (even Satan himself knows and believes in God): is not going to get you in through heavens gates: as it is nothing to do with 'How nice a person you are', ( contrary to popular belief), that gives you the right to enter Gods Kingdom!!
This is why (I'm presuming), the Christians here, and that you know: say you need to be saved!! But don't worry or take it personal: its not just you... but every human being on earth!!
Take a look at this link and learn for 'Yourself' what they mean by saved & why... God bless and lead you to truth & understanding.

You are free to worship as you wish. That is your choice.
I was a protestant who converted to the Catholic Church. However, before that, I feel like I had tried everything. I visited one church after the other, prayed and prayed and prayed, wrote to God all the time, tried reading the Bible (the whole bible), and searched the interent for anything that could point me in the right direction. Nothing was working though. I went to church here and there, but I never really got anything out of it.
One day I decided to go the church because it was Easter, and ask the priest if there was any kind of adult class available. I figured maybe I might find some answers there. He told me there was, and I started a six month class called RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults). My life has not been the same since.
I learned everything I wanted know about my faith, and then some. I go to church every Sunday now, because I finally understand what is happening when I go to receive the Blessed Eucharist.
Becoming Catholic lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. As a protestant, I always had to try to figure out on my own anything I was trying to learn, or pick up whatever I could from other people and try to make the pieces fit in my head by myself. I always to had to sift through everything I was being told, and was never really sure if I was doing it right or not.
Since I have found the Church, I have found the Bride of Christ, now over 2,000 years old, with more knowledge and wisdom than I could have ever hoped for. Any question I have about anything I have my priest to go to, I have the Catechism, and libraries worth of book and information about what the Church teaches. Somes things I still don't fully understand, but I take it on faith, and do the best I can to do what God teaches me to do.
I will be eternally grateful to God for the gift of His Chuch that I finally found.
I hope that my answer helps.
God bless,
Danny

Dont ever compare yourself to other people. You either choose a religion or your out of the box. What do you base your belief on if youre not practicing any religion? You can either use the Holy bible or hol quran. I am a chrictian and there are some things that might not be mention at the place of worship and you wont know except you base on either of the holy books. With the books you would know and understand more about the likes and disilkes of the God you serve.
Choosing The God you wish to serve i say is a huge step to be saved.
God Bless you!

The "church" in the Christian religion is merely the community of fellow believers. It is a place where people of a similar faith/belief can meet and feel comfortable among others of a similar faith.
Those who are new to the religion or have just found "Christ" usually feel confused, lost and often need answers to their many doubts and questions. Others feel the need to belong to a group and so go to a church. Others need instruction on moral and ethical issues and go to hear the "word of God" preached.
The same can be said for Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus. They all have communities where they surround themselves with kindred spirits.
However, not everyone needs a community to be closer to their God. There are many examples of hermits who have shunned society in their search for the "way". Having said that, an individual does not have to abandon society if they want to have an individual belief and this should be respected.
Don't forget that all those who go to church are not necessarily christian, but rather "churchians" who see it as a social event.
How you find God is a person thing in the same way that all religions are personal. Each having the same rights of belief as the next. How you get to God often depends on where you are, your circumstances and your needs. How many roads are there to London? Hundreds. The one you choose is the one most appropriate for your journey. They all lead to the same place so who cares which one you take?

You absolutely can believe in God and not follow a formal religion. I think that a lot of the new age (metaphysical) teaching is like that. Although there are many new age churches--in my view you don't have to attend.(but I have really enjoyed attending) Some wonderful authors are Ernest Holmes, Emmet Fox, Charles Fillmore, Emerson,Catherine Ponder and Wallace Wattles. Believing in a God of love is all that is necessary!

its called Agnosticism. personally i think that you would make it into Heaven before a lot of the people who hide behind their religion. I foollowed Christianity for the longest time, and then I switched to Agnosticism until I found the religion that really fit me. Which turned out to be Hinduism. I have had religion crammed down my throat for years because my father is a minister of the christian faith. From my experience, I would suggest that you find what fits you and you are comfortable with. And if you never find a doctrine that fist with you, dont worry. Be strong in our faith.

Your totally right... Why can't you. At the end of the day when that judgement day comes I believe god will look , not at your religion, but you as a person and how you have lived your life! So do whatever you feel in your heart is right!
Thanks!

you can. it's called agnostic. I hate it when people try to 'save' me. urgh!
I'm an atheist, after carefully considering all major religions, all minor religions, all past religions, secret societies, cults, and anything I could come up with myself. I just asked myself the logical question. do I believe in a god or gods, a goddess or goddesses? and I found, interestingly enough, that the answer was,.....
no.

You are more then welcome to believe anything you want. Major religions offer answers that their people have found. Other people find solace in that. But if you do not find comfort in a major religion, finding one on your own is a good start. Though, it might not be a popular religion to others if you think you are better then everyone else.

I agree with you completely Kingers, but unfortunately I have found out that when you ask questions like this, all that you seem to get is bible-thumpers trying to "save" you and preaching about how they have a first-class VIP ticket to heaven. Take a look at the question I asked a while ago to see what I mean...
