it depends on if the implant was placed in front of the muscle or behind it. generally it is placed behind that muscle so it doesnt block the glands that produce milk.

It's likely, but it depends on the kind of surgery you had. Incisions made under the fold of the breast or through the armpit shouldn't cause any trouble. The most popular method, making a "smile" incision around the areola, puts you at greater risk for problems.

If the nerves around the areola were not cut or damaged during surgery, you may be able to nurse fully or partially. Nerves are vital to breastfeeding because they trigger the brain to release prolactin and oxytocin, two hormones that affect milk production. Your chances of breastfeeding also improve if your milk duct system is intact.

There's no evidence that silicone from silicone implants leaks into breast milk, but even if it did, it probably wouldn't harm your baby. Silicone is very similar to a substance used to treat babies' stomach gas.

My thougts on the subject are, if you are planning to have children, then holf off getting implants until after you are done nursing your last child. Breast milk is the best food for newborns for many reasons and it would be best to avoid any complications. Breastfed infants are healthier because they receive antibodies from the mother through the milk. Breastmilk is readily available, the right temperature and infants who nurse at the breast as opposed to a bottle have fewer ear infections.

"According to the Institute of Medicine (IOM), any kind of breast surgery, including breast implant surgery, makes it at least three times more likely that a woman trying to breastfeed will have an inadequate milk supply (lactation insufficiency). The IOM based that conclusion on a number of studies of women with breast implants or other breast surgery."

I know several women who have breastfed after a boob job. It is possible, as long as the implants are UNDER the mammary glands.

It all depends on how the job is done, so some will be able to and some will not.

Usually yes. There are some weird jobs that ruin it. This is more when they move the nipple.

you can, the doctor just has to be careful about disturbing glands in the area. you can have trouble producing milk if you have had your nipples pierced.
