No, the USA is not afraid of other countries having nukes. The USA KNOWS the destructive power of such weapons and has the stable government to keep them from being used ever again. Sure the USA has them, but has NO INTENTION of using them ever again.

How can we be that certain North Korea and its certifiably mad dictator who starves his own people won't? Or how about the mad Iranian leader who is part of an Islamic End Times Cult? That madman wants to provoke and speed up the end times to bring a speedy return of the "12th Iman"....a mythical figure - a Jesus with swords and sabres to return.

Do we want THOSE PEOPLE with nukes? It's bad enough India and Pakistan have them. Those two countries have been at the brink of major war several times.

And for heaven's sake do we want Al Quada and their ilk to have nukes? They'll kill Muslims who don't agree with their extreme form of Islam.

No, the USA isn't afraid of other countries having nukes. There are too many loose cannons running (and ruining countries) these days. The USA is the only country capable of CONTROLING and NOT USING nukes!

Oh, and we can thank former President Bill Clinton for giving North Korea the technology for creating nukes. If Clinton hadn't done that in 1994, we wouldn't have the North Korean missle crisis hovering over the world like a starved vulture!

No, let me explain something to you. Many years ago, just after WWII, an agreement was signed between the countries that were already developing nuclear weapons, and the countries that weren't. The agreement was that those who had the technology could continue to develop it, but other countries could not, unless everyone else agreed.
That is why certain countries, such as Iran, should not be allowed to have nuclear weapons, or even the technology to build them. It's in violation of the agreement that was signed, plain and simple.
Do you really think that a country that has over 10,000 nuclear weapons (the US) would fear a country because they're just developing them? Please.
Edit: Let me give you an analogy for your last "detail" added. Picture a playground, with lots of kids playing. There's one kid who's taller than most, and stronger. He sometimes has to go in and break up fights, and stand up for his friends. Most people know better than to push him around. Then you have one kid who's taller than him, but they're somewhat neutral, and another kid who's stronger than the tall kid, but not as tall as him, or the first kid. They're friends, and their names are Russia and China. If you haven't guessed yet, the first one is simply known as USA.
Now, Russia and China could totally stomp all over USA if they chose to, but they rather like all the cool benefits of trading with USA, and wouldn't want to risk that.
Then you have this other kid across the playground, who's throwing pebbles at USA. The pebbles aren't reaching USA, and they won't do much harm even if they do hit him. Maybe sting a little. But what happens when that kid gets stronger, and he starts throwing bigger rocks? What happens if he's able to pick up a boulder, and throw THAT at USA? It could maim USA, or even kill him.
That would leave all the kids that USA helps out in a tough spot defenseless. Kids like Japan, for example. And Russia and China won't be able to trade with USA anymore.
It wouldn't just hurt USA, then. It would hurt all those kids. Perhaps it would start a major playground battle.
North Korea is that kid throwing pebbles. The outcome of a large-scale war is what we fear, not what North Korea can throw at us.

Yes it is strange considering the USA is the only country that has actually used them in war. In a way they use nuclear weapons in Iraq with the uranium dupleted war heads . Radioactive dust particles is contaminating everything. The cancer rate and number of deformed new Born's have gone up with 500 % in the area. It's also the cause of the famous "Gulf war syndrome"..
Further it's an over all attitude problem ..."Oh no .... ! we are the nice guys. it's OK for us to have these weapons , because we would never hurt anybody" ...

The only countries who are not allowed to have nuclear weapons are ones that the world's leaders mostly agree upon. The reason is because they are too unstable. We in America have had nuclear weapons for quite some time, and look at the restraint we show in using them. There are other countries whose leaders wouldn't be able to show such constraint.

The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, also referred to as the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), obligates the five acknowledged nuclear-weapon states (the United States, Russian Federation, United Kingdom, France, and China) not to transfer nuclear weapons, other nuclear explosive devices, or their technology to any non-nuclear-weapon state. Non-nuclear-weapon States Parties undertake not to acquire or produce nuclear weapons or nuclear explosive devices. They are required also to accept safeguards to detect diversions of nuclear materials from peaceful activities, such as power generation, to the production of nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices. This must be done in accordance with an individual safeguards agreement, concluded between each non-nuclear-weapon State Party and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Under these agreements, all nuclear materials in peaceful civil facilities under the jurisdiction of the state must be declared to the IAEA, whose inspectors have routine access to the facilities for periodic monitoring and inspections. If information from routine inspections is not sufficient to fulfill its responsibilities, the IAEA may consult with the state regarding special inspections within or outside declared facilities.

Wouldn't you be afraid to have North Korea, for example, possess nuclear weapons? If not, you should be.
