My wife and I are planning to visit Singapore this year. We will carry one large and one small luggage. Since taxis fee is usually higher, we are thinking about taking the MRT from airport terminal to the hotel we will be staying in. We have not decided on which hotel to stay in (we will choose the one which has a MRT station near by).
Is it convenience to carry the luggage and take MRT all the way from airport terminal to the hotel? Will there be too much hassle to cary a large luggage in the MRT? How about the return trip from hotel to airport? Or shall I just take the taxi and absorb the higher cost? Thanks!

Going by MRT is pretty convenient, the gates at the MRT station are big and is able to fit large luggages. Even for the town area, there are at least one gate big enough to accomodate big luggage, so no worries about it. Some of the hotels like Swissotel are conveniently located next to the MRT stations, just exit from the station and you can go direct to the hotel which are sheltered all the way.

Take the MRT. Taxis (as you can see on the prices put in the web) are expensive. As the line of MRT ends in the airport there won´t be problems with the luggage in the train. And if you avoid the rush hour to go to the airport, there won´t be problems from the hotel to the airport.

MRT is much cheaper compared to taxi.

Limousine out of Changi Airport charges S$35 per transfer to any destination in Singapore.
Normal flag-down taxi usually cost S$15 to city area, with $5 location charge (for Changi Airport).

Train fare, will not cost more than S$2 per person. When taking train, look out for the newer trains that sports black exterior. These trains have wider compartments for luggage storage near the door.

Hi, nice to know that you be visiting Singapore, as a Spore Citizen here, I welcomed you. :P

For me, I will advise you to take MRT after you landed, this will somehow save a little sum of money and at the same time, you can view the scenery while you are on the train.

Try to look for a Hotel that are near to a Station. Some Stations that are quite near to hotels: Tanjong Pagar Station, Orchard Station, Raffles Place Station, City Hall Station, Somerset Station, Newton Station.

Usually you can find Hotels just "above" the Station, fast and conveniece.

Take a cab to Airport when you leaving Spore. This will help you in lessen the burden the carrying of heavy luggages and things bought.

Last, enjoyed your Holiday here. :P
