i realize it's a matter of having discipline but how to healthy people do it?

Start small. Cut out one unhealthy thing from your diet per week, and replace it with something healthy (ie, soda for water, chips for raw veggies, replace fast food with salads).

Walk for 30 minutes 4 days a week. It doesn't have to be fast, just get out and walk around your neighborhood.

The weight will come off slowly, but that's good, that's what you want.

Join a community sports team (even if you suck at sports). You'll have fun and you will find people who have the same goals that you do.

Don't start at a gym- those places look clean but are filthy. Being with other people usually doesn't help. Don't try "oh, i'll join as a new year's resolution", that won't work either (most of those drop out within the next month). Start now- walk the dog, walk the stairs, take the sidewalk instead of the bus. What works for me: bring a little snack bag with nuts, raisins, vegetables, or something like that in it, so I don't get tempted to eat something every time I walk (or drive) by a restaurant. Besides, you'll save money by walking (avoid high gas prices!) and by not buying anything and everything that shoves its smell up your nose. Pull the cashews out of your pocket. And don't stop. This type of change takes time. Big time.

i know its hard, I'm in the same situation as you. Try starting off with subtle changes. Don't use salt, or use less of it, cut back on sugar (especially sodas). For example, I substitued the my teaspoons of sugar in my tea with 2 packets of Twin, a no calorie sweetner. Than gradually decreased that. And now I don't put anything in my tea except milk. Also, start off your meal with a salad. It will fill u up and you wont eat the main dish as much. Drink ALOT of water. I drink about 3-4 litres per day. And most importantly, keep moving... I'm not saying to join a gym or something, but start small and then gradually increase your activities. Take the stairs instead of the escalator, take a walk after dinner, go swimming when its nice outside, little things like that. The key is to take baby steps. I've been overweight all my life, and just by changing those little things, I lost 70lbs in15 months. Hope this helps :)

It helps so much to work out and "diet" with friends. Open up to people and tell them you are trying to lose weight. Then they won't force unhealthy food on you and perhaps can give good suggestions. If you can get a workout partner, you can motivate each other to exercise when one of you isn't in the mood.

Other things: volunteer to walk dogs at a local rescue or shelter. Find low-cal foods to snack on...for example, I eat shelled sunflower seeds....takes forever to actually eat a cup which is only 80 cal and gets me over any salt cravings I'm having. They also say, if you do something 17 times in a row...its a habit...so exercise and eat great for 20 days...then you'll be hooked on the good stuff and feeling great.

BEST OF LUCK!! Believe in yourself...you can do this!

First of all, don't hate yourself for anything. Then, set a goal for yourself. Don't set it too high or unrealistic, though. Make it reachable so you don't get let down if you don't reach a crazy one. One of the best motivators is to have a friend who wants to lose weight too. You can go to the gym or on walks together, and you'll have a reason why you can't just decide not to exercise and watch TV instead. And, if you give in to a craving or don't lose as much weight as you wanted to for the first week or whatever, don't bring yourself down. Everyday is the beginning of the rest of your life, and a fresh start. You can start over clean. Good luck and stay motivated!

Place the photo that you look the heaviest in on the fridge door. Hang the widest pair of pants or shorts you own on your bedroom curtain rod. If you have a floor-length mirror, be sure to stand in front of it each time you change clothing.

It's easy to start - all you need to do is walk every day. Start with 15 minutes, and make it a little more each day. If you are the one who does the grocery shopping, stay out of the candy, soda and chip aisles. Don't eat fast food, and don't eat fried food.
Good luck - just doing these few little things will turn in some results. Just wait!

You know what? I'm not what one would consider to be "fat", but I have a problem, too. I just have a tough time getting motivated to excersize anymore and I've noticed that that 30+ metabolism is kicking in. Not a good combination. Especially after a couple of kids. I think if you have a friend, especially one in the same boat as you, that you can walk (or do other excersize with) and be accountable to, it's helpful. One of my friends who is what you'd consider to be seriously overweight is using sparkpeople.com to track her eating/calories and has lost 11 pounds just doing that. (and it's free) Another is walking the dog 2 1/2 miles a day, writing down what she eats and has lost 17 in 2 months. I think I'm gonna try that! Somehow, writing down everything going into your mouth in a day makes you want to not have to write down so much!
Another trick I've used that helps w/ the hunger is drink a glass of water before you eat. Sometimes our stomach confuses thirst for hunger. It will also "fill" you a bit before you do sit down for a meal. Plus, it flushes out all the "ickies".
Good luck with it hon. I know even losing 10 to 15 is tough. But remember, no matter your outside, it's your inside that counts! And celebrate every little "goal". After 10 lbs, treat yourself to a facial or massage if you can afford it. Even buy a new cosmetic to make your smaller size sparkle!

You could use support from a group that is in the same situation. Check out Weight Watchers or look online for other groups. It's not a matter of discipline, you have to change the way you think about food and keep thinking til it becomes ingrained in you.

If it is really hard to eat less, I think you should eat only vegan food. As you start eating the healthy vegan diet, your mood will also change and that is going to motivate you to do some exercising. Maybe go on walks, take a yoga class. Good luck

I understand how you feel. Unfortunately trying to do this alone is very difficult. You need help. Quickie help can be found in a 1 month Nutri System enrollment. If you are really serious, do that for 30 days and you will be amazed at your success. After that you can decide where you want to go from there.
The other alternative would be to see a nutritionist.
