The most federal aid you can receive is loan consolidation. If it's direct federal loans you have, go to www.dlservicer.ed.gov to apply for federal loan consolidation. They will consolidate your debt into one payment and at a lower interest rate usually. If you are having troubles with paying your debt, you can try getting loan deferment or forbearance. Pres. Clinton signed a bill that wipes out the student loans of teachers who are willing to teach in urban areas for a set number of years, I believe it is five. Other than that, I'm not sure. Good luck!

I think if you sign up for peacecorps or americorps, the govt will pay a percentage of your student loans. however, you do this at a sacrifice of decent pay. if you care about peacecorps or americorps and dont have a problem with low pay, check it out.
