Like ..James James..or Robert Roberts i don't know the name for it but the cause is parents with either a wicked sense of humor or a genuine lack of imagination

In Eastern European nations they have what is known as a patronymic name. If you father was named Ivan and your name is Ivan your name would be Ivan Ivanovich. Which means Ivan son of Ivan.

I don't know but what I can't stand is when people use last names for first names.
