Drink lots and lots of water, take frequent breaks, even if it is just sitting down in the shade for a few minutes. Avoid sugar and alcohol. They will dehydrate you. If you can get one of those mister things, it would be great. We use them when we go to the zoo, or are on an outside outing. I used mine today when I was sunbathing. They really cool you off. You can get them at wal mart for about 15 bucks. Get the bigger size. They are well worth it. You can also wet a bandana and keep it around your neck. Good luck, and stay cool! :)

ANY kind of sports drink. Gatoraid is most well known but many off name brands...Walmart has off name brand. You lose fluid and electrolytes and become dehydrated. The electrolytes are in the sports drinks. Avoid salty foods as they act as a magnet to draw out the fluid and electrolytes before your kidneys can work to do their job.
And by all means avoid alchohol.....this dehydrates you very quickly. And remember by the time you feel the thirst mechanism you are already dehydrated lightly.

Take a spray bottle (of water) with you so you can spray yourself down. Keep a wet rag so you can wipe your face and neck. That works wonders for me.
Wear a hat. And sunsreen. If you get a burn you will feel that much hotter. Probably because you will be. It will hurt in the sun.
