I have a two year old miniature schnauzer who's a complete brat. I dont know if all schnauzers are as hyper as he is. He can be sweet some times, but most of the time you can picture him as a 3 year old running loose around the house. He's wild! But I cant get rid of him. He's cuteness has won me over.

Before I read the rest of your question I was going to say that they are all extremely hyper.

After I read the rest of your question I realized that you already know exactly what Schnauzer's are like.

I think you should probably get another one.

Because of their high energy levels, these dogs love to play all of the time, and another Schnauzer gives them someone with whom to share that energy.

Without the companionship of another similar dog, you end up with a frustrated animal that has no satisfying outlet for his or her vitality.

The thing about Mini Schnauzers is that they are like any other dog. When they are young, they are high energy. They really are just like a child running loose with ADD around the house, but most (not all) puppies are like that. Its usually just an age thing. Most of the time, they end up calming down after a couple more years.... A couple things that you can do is look into daycares while you are at work or school once or twice a week, spend extra time playing with him outside or inside depending on your living situation and/or find a dog park nearby where he can let loose on some energy. Think about it this way, if you have a 7 year old child that didn't go to school and was cooped up inside all day, of course people would think that the child is high strung or hyper, there would be no outlet for all of the childs energy... Just remember the cuteness and the love of your puppy and you will find a way to focus his energy.

I think so, I have a neighbor with a schnauzer who is always barking at the Cairn Terrier next door to him. Or always barking, period.
