Water is better for you. Gatorade is good during workouts, but not an everyday, whenever I'm thirsty kind of drink. Also, my boss shared a Men's Health article with me that stated with all the sugar in Gatorade it is increasing cavities and dental issues - so if you indulge in Gatorade, remember to brush afterwords!

It depends on what you mean by "better." Some people think that the glucose and electrolytes in Gatorade will give you more stamina during exercise. That's not necessarily true, though. Without getting into complex physiology, that intake probably won't make a difference with short term exercise (less than 60 mintues).

Generally, I'd stick with water during exercise, and be sure to eat a small meal rich in complex carbohydrates a few hours before exercising.

Absolutely not. Water is essential to life. Gatorade is not. Just try growing a plant on Gatorade.

Nothing is better for you than water. Gatorade may taste better but you also get a bunch of chemicals with that . Water is natural and it's the best.

Water is naturally the best thing for your body but water takes time to be absorbed into your body's tissues...Gatorade on the other hand is infused w/ electrolytes ans certain strains of the b vitamin that cause the absorbtion prosses to be sped up...gatorade also has carbs in it so your body has somthing to burn off while your active....you can only burn off so much at a time without replacing

If you are exercising, and sweating heavily, then Gatorade is good for you.
But to just drink Gatorade cause you like it, it's not. Friend of mine, who is a RN said that the electrolytes can affect your kidneys if you get to much, so only Gatorade when you are exercising.

Yes it is. If you are working out you will lose sodium through sweat. Gatorade replaces electrolytes along with sugars to help maintain endurance. One more thing because of the electrolytes gatorade is absorbed from the gut faster than water.

I would rather drink water than gatorade and I hate water. Gatorade has a weird edge to it

no, it's okay to keep up your strength and energy, especially when working out, but overall water is definitely better. Gatorade contains electrolytes, which is basically salt. Drinking gatorade can dehydrate you if you don't drink water or a replenishing substance behind it.

gatorade is good if you are going to be exercising to keep yourself hydrated because it has electolytes in it to help you keep from dehydrating, and to keep up your energy. But water is BEST for you. If you do drink gatorade make sure you still get at least 8 glasses of water a day...or more in this heat.
