As a Christian , I can tell you that God has written that we must give up the "old" man and put on the new.

So, yes, I gave up my life. I now have a new life in Jesus Christ and it is far better than what I gave up, and am still learning to give up!

So, I can see how someone who does not know the wonderous feeling that being saved feels like, would be worried about giving up what they know, for what they have no real clue about.

It is up to GOD to open their eyes to this, we are only to plant the seed, and water the seed, GOD will determine if it grows.

Some gardens just dont like seeds or water, they would rather be dry desert.

Hey Frog,

It's the Human condition man. People are people and some will believe the most bizarre s#!t out there. Doesn't matter if there is no evidence. They will make up all the evidence they will need to prove they are right. The Bible is 2000 years old and written by a bunch of goat herders who were f#(king their own goats. What do you expect LOL ;-)

I often questioned myself why some one would think that because I'm a Christian Pastor I can't have a fun filled and enjoyable life.
I didn't start living until I gave my life to Christ.

Everyone thinks that they are giving up their life, because they are giving away all the things they used to do, and all of their old ways. You do not give up your life, yield your life to God, and his ways. if you are truly all about God's purpose, and want to do his will, and you know that it is not about you, but about the people of this world, then you would have no problem laying down your old lifestyle, and picking up the lifestyle that God has for you. It is simple.people like the things that they do, so when when someone read in the bible, "to pick up the cross, and follow me", they feel that they are giving everything away, but in reality, they are gaining everything they never had with God in their life.

What they mean to say is that they are giving up thier previous life of sin. Their new life will consist of constant prayer and converting people to Christianity and spreading the good word.

because to have eternal life you must serve. its in the bible. some people dont like the idea of servitude, no matter the rewards at the end. i just read a relevant quote acctually.

"if i could just relieve some of the blood flowing from that crown of thorns, i would gladly be your favorite doll." - Godchild

ps. in the quote, bieng a doll isnt a good thing.

Because they don't understand what it is to be a Christian. They don't understand you can still have fun and live a great, exciting life. They think you have to give it all up.

To accept Christ and be baptized in him, you are surrendering yourself to Him. You no longer belong to yourself, but now belong to God. You are then obligated to follow His commandments and live as a loving servant of God. Yes, you will still live your day to day life like you always did, but the difference is that your life must now bring glory to God, living according to His commandments and being obedient to Him.

Sometimes this may require many changes in peoples lives, even painful changes, and some aren't willing to do that. What they need to realize is that God understands what we go through every day of our lives. He knows that even though we screw up and make mistakes, we are trying to be as sincere and loving as we know how, because we love Him.

God's patience is infinite, and people should realize that he knows what they're going through in life, and that change is hard. He wants them to see that sometimes things get worse before they get better, but that He is always right there next to them whether they know it or not.

What they need to do is start with prayer. Talk to God. He is right there, waiting, BEGGING for you to talk to Him. It is because He loves you. God loves you for who you are, as He created you. He doesn't care what kind of house you live in, or the car you drive or the clothes you wear, what your social status is or how educated you are, as long as these things aren't leading you in a life of sin away from Him. He simply loves you because He loves you, more than you could ever know.

Talk to God and talk to Him often.

God bless,

Danny
