And are the lyrics like a prayer or something? I don't understand why you have to sing and dance to jesus? What will jesus do?... and before I forget what is with those people that fall when that guy touches then on the head?...do they pass out or are they faking?

As an Evangelical Pastor I have often question at least some of those same things myself.

As far as the singing goes we sing Southern gospel sings that lift the heart and inspire worship.

The dancing on the other hand is justified by the fact that King David danced before the Ark of the Covenant.
That's true He did dance as it was on the road back to Jerusalem. However once it was in the Holy of Holies he prostrated himself before and worshiped GOD.

The act of being touched is called being slain in the spirit and after many years of study I am unable to find any verses that substantiate this as being scriptural.

People have been singing and dancing as a form of worship since the beginning of humanity. If not for worship specifically, then to celebrate. Christians often celebrate their faith, thus the singing and dancing.

As for the "slaying in the spirit" nonsense, it is a stage show. No different than John Edwards talking to the dead folks who only know parts of the alphabet.

Some of what you describe are practices of "cults" within the Christian religion and not necessarily "denominations." My church (Southern Baptist) do raise our voices to the Lord, but we don't dance (not even for leisure outside of the church if you have been convicted that is a sin). Some truly Christian denominations have added dance as an expression of worship.

I don't get the "falling out," either. I've never witnessed it (except on TV) and have never experienced it personally, but I'm not completely ready to dismiss it as a Divine act.

Dancing and making a song are displaying they are happy to be with their lord. no longer all Christians try this with the aid of the way and televangelists are actually not probably christian. They use GOD and CHRIST to tug in people who're searching for for some thing and are gullible adequate to shovel out money to those adult men who're only shysters. The snake think of I genuinely have been advised is a try of their faith. they believe that GOD won't enable them to die in the event that they get bitten... does no longer touch them with a 10 foot pole... Them boys are certifiable! The dancing and making a song isn't a pagan element, it replace right into a ingredient of the tribes of Israel and various Christians took it from there. Are you thru any possibility a Puritan? They hated any style of social gathering and known because it evil. Too undesirable human beings think of that making a song and dancing are actually not a ingredient of compliment considering the fact it is.

All churches do the singing, some more exuberant that others. Some do the dancing. Some even go so far that they can compete successfully with a rock concert. The reason? Many churches do no understand the principles of hermeneutics.

the songs are praise songs ... to praise and worship our God. Kind of like the Psalms in the Bible. We sing to worship & sing out of joy for what God has done for us.

The rest of the stuff you mention (falling down, dancing around etc.) ... not ALL Christians do that stuff. That is the Charismatic movement. Mainline Christian denominations do not do any of that stuff. But just for the record, David danced in the Old Testament ... he worshipped God & danced for joy when the Ark of the Covenant was returned to Israel.

It's not something you have to do, it's just things people long to do, to worship God. And when somebody falls after their head is touched, its because the person is praying over them & God fills the person with the power of the Holy Spirt. Some people do fake, yes, but thats not our point to judge. But when they fall, they are filled with God and recieving visions or words of Christ. Jesus looks down and appreciates those who are worshiping Him but only if they truely mean their love to God. It's not a requirement, just a choice in someones heart. Each person has different ways in serving their God.

our church does not do any dancing or falling down. we just sing our praise to God. It is an expression of joy and thankfulness. It does seem like the media always shows the more charismatic churches. Many churches do not even use musical instruments, preferring to praise with their voices only.

You are talking about some cults you have seen on TV. You do not dance in a Baptist church, they will send you to hell so fast.
