Are the insurgents in iraq freedom fighters?

all the people that are fighting against the american, british, and canadian forces are just protecting their land from intruders. Seriously, think about it; if someone came to your country killing innocents (women and children) wouldn't you fight back?

before the war in iraq, muslims from iraq didn't come to USA and force islam upon the americans

I'm specifically talking about the Iraqi and other forces teaming up against the westerners. I'm not talking about them killing each other.

Nice theory, but many of the "insurgents" aren't even Iraqis, but basically paid mercenaries...often from Iran. You do realize that more Iraqis are being killed by these "insurgents" than allied forces. For the most part, those that are Iraqis are partisan Muslims who are killing their own people who are not part of their particular sect. Protecting their land from intruders is really not the issue.

Per your additional comment: Don't be naive, my friend. How can you NOT include the insurgents purposefully targeting and killing other Iraqis in the discussion when talking about the war in Iraq? It clearly demonstrates that the agenda for the vast majority of them is NOT somehow protecting their own people from the Great Satan Westerners. It's basically rival gangs trying to take over the country for themselves.

Probably. If I really thought they were out to quash our freedoms, I would fight back against an "oppressor" too.
I think we should leave Iraq, by the way. But you are sadly misled by your ideology, if I'm reading your question right.
First off, they are killing off way more of one another over there than they are fighting US forces. When we leave it'll be a blood bath. I'm OK with that, they're muslim, they're hell-bent on killing SOMEBODY, one another if they have to, from there it's just semantics.
But....here's where you're misled. You think that the people over there are fighting for the "right to be free of American repression".
WRONG. What they are fighting for is the right to rule, the right to become the leadership, and the right to BECOME the Taliban oppressor. They aren't fighting for freedom at all. They're fighting for the power of rule, and the power to take freedoms away from anyone who disagrees with their ideology. Those people, the decent non-terrorists that want peace, aren't going to get freedom if we stay or if we go either one. So we may as well leave and let muslim kill muslim. The only good muslim........

OK, a group of people DID come to my country and kill innocents, in airplanes, The Pentagon and the World Trade Center; the operations in Afghanistan and Iraq are directly related to those murders. WTF? Are Iraqi insurgents freedom fighters? No. Seriously, when Iraqis KILL OTHER IRAQIS, that isn't for freedom- it is a display of reckless disregard for human life. And you want to blame coalition forces for killing innocents when Iraqis blast away at one another? Your logic is appalling; and your point here is contradictory: you can't preach humanity and respect for life in claiming that insurgents are freedom fighters when they kill their own fellow countrymen, and then blame their conduct on invaders.
