If that is where most of the Laws were set and yet seems to be the Jubilee Laws are the most neglected, misrepresented laws there are… I mean I got the passage Lev. 20:13, which says (in the King James Version), "If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination." It is the strongest argument abiout homosexuality there is but if we are going to choose that passage with which to adhere why not the any of the others where Leviticus condemns a lot of things as "abominations." In example, from verses 10-12:And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you: They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination. Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.I am thinking that means no Long John Silvers or Red Lobster…Or the uncleanliness of pork. You don’t think when you hit the pearly gates someone will be there saying.” But you ate pork…On Easter Sunday!?!?!” and then later on there are other references later with Peter when he is told Nothing that God has made is unclean. So which is it? Pork and shellfish or not?

Its all one big Fairy Story.... A way that a minority exerted power over the majority. Now I believe in a God but most of the Bible (and other Holy Books) had less divine influence in their writing - or at least their current translation - than the latest McDonalds Drive Thru Menu. I suspect some of the writers truly believed that what they were writing was devine but deep down they were writing what they wanted others to believe. Do you honestly think God would give a toss as to whether we ate pork or beef or squid ??? If he does then he has a serious complex. Why the hell did he put those foodstuffs on this planet ??? And if they were not to be eaten why make them edible and then why tell the human race NOT to eat them tens of thousands of years AFTER we evolved.
Gods big plan ??? No !!! Human minority trying to control !!!
AND CINDY WHO REPLIED ABOVE .... GET A LIFE HUN... WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE !!!

On the contrary, Lev 20:13 isn't an ARGUMENT at all; it merely says that this is prohibited (an abomination) under Levitical law.
An argument makes a case for a certain position, that proceeds according to certain rules of logic and philosophical laws.
This is a bit like your older brother/sister telling you, "Touch that and I will pound you." That isn't an argument, either.
And since it's pretty clear that lots and lots of people -- including quite a few "saved" ones -- eat ham and shrimp without bringing down the Wrath of YHWH upon themselves and their countries, then we must assume that the reason this is prohibited is not that God is so p-ed off about it as a behavior, but for some other reason unknown to us.
Not knowing that reason, we cannot say whether this is a law that must, under all circumstances be followed, or whether it falls into the same group as Virginia ham and garlic butter shrimp.

Get rid of the King James bible and get one in modern english first. Then those where the old laws that Jesus death nulafied
put out of the way. We are not under the old law anymore.
He did away with that.
Read Romans 1:24-27 says don't lie with a male the same as a women goes on to say thats a no no
Jude 7 states that Sodomy is the same as homosexuality
destroyed for that

I've read somewhere that in a printed leaflet, the U.S. Navy advises it sailors, "If you are stranded on an island and have to eat fish, use those that have fins and scales only". There is a scientific reason for this.
As for pork, it might interest you to learn that pigs can eat a poisonous snake and suffer no side effects. I do not know the scientific reason for this. I do know, though, that I don't want to eat meat from such an animal. By-the-way, Mozart died from eating a ham sandwich. Is your pork properly cooked before you eat it? I suppose you do like the thought of eating all those dead/half-cooked parasites in the pork.
Has it ever crossed your mind that these dietary laws may not be ONLY religious?

Please do not analyze the bible carefully..it falls apart all over the place. A cute, if not boring tale of fighting, smiting, and biting. But to take it as real...give it a rest. People pull from the bible only that which agress with their silly beliefs..they pay no attention to the rest of it...In fact, they don't seem to pay much attention to the Commandments. Leave it at that. The bible was written in the 4Th and 5Th centuries AD..not by Peter, Paul, and Mary. The Catholic church did the writing, loosely from scrolls, filled in the blanks as they saw fit at the time, omitted what they didn't care to think about, and had the nerve to say it was "Written by God." Give me a break. Now, all those churches who hate the Catholics, are in fact, going by what the Catholics put together in the first place. I get such a kick out of all this. It would seem that all Protestant churchs are nothing more that Catholic Lite.

Many Jewish people still follow these laws. They don't eat pork or shellfish....Jesus changed that part of the law during His time on earth. (Since the Jewish people don't believe that Jesus was the Messiah, it makes sense.....why would they listen to Him?) The reason these laws were made in the first place was due to lack of sanitation.....these foods made people sick. By the time Jesus was on earth, it was easier to prepare these foods.....the law about same sex people being intimate with each other was never "revised." The way I see it, it is a sin to be gay.....but it is also a sin to lie, and a sin to make fun of people, and to murder someone.....sins are not assigned "degrees" in God's eyes.....everyone sins. I am not gay, and don't agree with the lifestyle, but I don't have to answer for someone else's sins....only mine....and I have enough. And just because I don't agree with the lifestyle does not mean I think that all these people should be beaten up.....God made them, too.

If you look at the reference you are quoting for Peter, you will find it says that he should not call any MAN common or unclean, not any food. Better check it again. IT was telling about the meeting of a Gentile with a Jew, that was considered a big no no as the Gentile was considered unclean and not to be messed with. By law you could not come in contact with one. So God was telling Peter not to call any MAN unclean. Check it out.

First, I am glad that you are reading the bible.
The laws, everyone of them are still in effect. For Jesus said, I did not come to change the law, but to pay the price for the law.
It means that all is allowed, because we have had the punishment for the sin paid for us. But it goes on to say, because all is allowed, does not mean that all is good for us.
Jesus said, If you love me, you will keep my laws. This is a strong statement that the laws still exist, and that we should keep them. We just dont put anyone to death for them anymore, because the punishment has been born by Jesus.
So , homosexuality is still wrong, but you will not receive death as punishment for that sin, but on the same token if you Love and receive Jesus Christ as your personal saviour, you will keep his laws, and not practice homosexuality, or any other law that is in Lev. There is one law that was done away with. That is the laws of cleansing and sacrifice. Jesus was and is the perfect sacrifice for our sins, and nothing that we could sacrifice could come close to that, so no more sacrifices as the ultimate sacrifice has been made.

there are hundreds of contradictions in the bible - 200 doctrinal contradictions
god is good, god is not good [he said it himself] - jesus is god, jesus is not god - jesus is good, jesus is not good [he said it himself] - the world is good, the world is not good
it is amazing how people are so willing to entertain the ideas in this book - why this book is so popular in a strange way
why are people awed by it?
why isnt it just another stupid old book?
for some reason we become all gullible and vulnerable with this book - some people more than others
and how is it that christians and jews are never bothered by the contradictions?
and why is it that the churches never notice the contradictions or attempt to deal with them?
i suspect that religious people get close to the bible in order not to see it - by going right up to it and turning your back, you can block it out
the number of times christians have merrily ignored the bible teachings!
think what jesus said about wealth - and then see the head of the english church with all her money! - it's a hoot - wealth and god are opposites according to jesus - but that hasnt stopped all christian countries from finding wealth very respectable and desirable for 2000 years
if you are interested in christianity and homosexuality you should read 'christianity, homosexuality and social tolerance' by john boswell - a good sane read, the facts about h and chr - it shows you that all religious people are liars - to themselves and others - they cant be objective and fair if they try
[there are some recent theologians who are honest and sane and unbiassed]
[biassed - bi-assed - double assholes!]
