It seems to me that many of the responses to your question were not written by ex-Christians, but by people who once went to church or who were little kids who put the Bible and the Lord right up there with fairy tales. These actions do not define Christianity. God bless all of you! May you all realize the truth before it's too late.

I miss believing that there is a God the most, of course.
I miss believing that there is someone up there that loves me now and will be there to care for me later.
I miss believing in heaven and that I'll be able to see everyone that I know in this life again.
Most of all I miss the 'chocolatey rivers of heaven'...my dad told me once when I was a little girl that heaven had rivers that were made of chocolate milk..which made me so excited. xD
I'm glad I'm atheist now though. I only believed in God when I was a little girl and was NEVER a bible-thumper, ew.

I never was a Christian, but I went to a Catholic Church once and they had snack time. I think they called it "come on you need it" or "communion". I can't remember. Anyway, you got into line and they'd feed you crackers and wine. The crackers were damn good. I went up for seconds.
The wine was nasty. Everyone slurped out of the same cup and I don't think they ever washed it. It was crusted with mixture of dried and fresh saliva.
HMMMMM, I sure do miss the crackers though.

I don't miss anything about following christianity. I left it at age 15 and the only reason I went before that was that my mother made me. I never bought into any of the theories presented to me and I used to drive the Sunday school teacher nuts asking 'why this' and 'why that'.

I miss being able to not feel weird when someone asks what church I go to. I miss not feeling free enough to just say I am not religious. People get VERY uncomfortable when you say that and start behaving weird around you. People that you have known for years start to avoid you if you happen to mention that you are not religious. I don't understand, I am happy they have a religion that makes them happy. I am not trying to change anyone.

I'm an ex catholic which is the same thing but with saints, but I miss the cool coloring books we had in catechism(spell?) classes. I always had fun giving moses a tie die robe. That crazy moses! You know he had to be getting high to get away from all that animal S**t smell going on.

There are a lot of loving, caring people in churches and I miss the sense of community that belonging to a church brings that you don't get in the "world". I didn't leave the church because of bad experiences. I left because I could no longer believe it.

Just guessing that most ex-christians would miss the make-believe "magic" associated with Christmas.

The sense of superiority and the notion all the sinners were going to be cast into Hell. Then I saw how modern-day fundamentalists were perverting the scriptures to further their own political and social agenda, and resigned myself to a more agnostic, but less sickening mindset.

I was a mormon, I don't miss a thing about it! As a matter of fact I stopped going to their church about 10 years ago and they still track me down everywhere I move, it's driving me nuts!
