Keep to the point and avoid emotionally loaded words. It sounds like you want leave an official position as a member of the church, so be polite, don't be personal, and don't be emotive.

You don't even have to be specific about the reasons you are leaving, but have answers prepared in case you are asked face to face.

Wow! i did not know you write a letter of resignation to a church. i guess you can start out by stating the positives about the church and then say because of whatever reason, you feel your membership would be better utilized somewhere else.
my advice would be to make sure that you are leaving by the leading of God, because if this is your own free will things could possibly be worse when you leave. make sure you have exhausted all of your resources in making things at your current church right before you leave.

This is a road that you're going to have to travel by yourself! If you're writing a letter to a church because you're leaving, then tell them why (kindly). It doesn't have to be long. Actually, I don't know why you have to write a letter at all, you could simply terminate your membership.

Dear [ whoever the title is ],

It has been a great honor to serve with your congregation for the past
[ state how many years. ] You have given me a place to come and worship and feel at home. My home now has changed at [ state where you are going ], because I feel this is where I belong now and this is what I believe in.

If you can kindly remove me from your [ state the lists and positions you hold ] that would be much appreciated.

Once again, thank you.

Have a great day.

[ YOUR NAME ]

Do peole need to become a member of the church? wow, i did not know that. Anyway, you should just say what you feel in your letter. try to be polite and stay focused on what you are trying to say. be well and goodluck with that.
