I think you are supposed to ask with body language.

An old girlfriend once told me she never kissed anybody who asked her, because asking was lame (or whatever "lame" was called back in the Cretaceous Era, when I was a teenager).

So I never asked -- when it seemed the time was right, I'd just lean forward and tilt my head so our noses wouldn't bonk into each other. And this NAT -- Nose Avoidance Tilting -- is a good sign from the other party. If she tilts her nose too, it's an indication she wants to be kissed. At that point, just align your lips and there you go.

Never ask about tongues, either. The ABSOLUTE VERY BEST first kiss I ever had, we just sort of melted into each other without a word. I felt like our bodies had opened up and our souls started pouring into each other, never to be separated again. That was 30 years ago next New Year's Eve, so it appears I was right...

only if you want to ruin the fun and excitement of guessing the right time. The kiss will be better if it just sort of happens than if it's asked for. A requested kiss is too much like a planned kiss. Maybe I've done too much theater, but in my experience, a planned kiss is nowhere near as fun as a spontaneous one.

it depends on if the mood is already set or not. if you guys are already leaning on then don't just be like "can i kiss you?" but if it seems appropriate to ask, then ask. otherwise jus do it.

No, you should not have to ask it should just happen naturally.

If you have to ask then something is wrong.
