You need to call the patient representative at the hospital and tell them you want an independent doctor, not affiliated with the one's caring for her now to give you a second opinion. Sounds to me like they perferated the bowel and let out bowel contents.

An infectious disease doctor would be indicated as they know the antibiotics to fight her infection. Septic is very dangerous.

Also make sure you have a good internal medicine doctor seeing her.

And make sure the person who performed the proceedure is not the main doctor on the case. That is your most important concern. But, the patient rep from the hospital is a patient and family member advocate.

You will have to go to another hospital to get a fully accurate second opinion. Technically it's within the patients to be able to get a 2nd opinion; but, having been within the system long enough you know what that actually translates into.

By calling your md and asking him to take a look at her or make her an appt. with a specialist other than the one she has now.
