Pentax has really great small cameras. Many of the new ones use only the screen on the back, but some have a view finders. I have had several (I am a junky for new stuff) Pentax cameras and they take amazing photos and they are very compact (S series fit inside an Altoids tin). Great cameras.

You might want to rephrase that question and try again.
With optical viewfinders you'll either get rangefinder (these don't work with zoom lenses) or an SLR (hardly ultra-compact.)
The digital ultra-compacts all have electronic viewfinders/ screens. Unfortunately, I'm not up to date on those models, so I can't tell you which are best. I can give you a few sites for in-depth reviews though:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/
If you had particular cameras in mind, those sites should tell you if the viewfinders are okay.

I can't reccomend any specific models, but if you can find one where the view finder goes through the lens instead of a seperate window (like an SLR), then I bet that would be good. I'm not sure if those are available in cameras other than SLR's though.
