My immediate reaction is: Lots of Luck!

You'll need a group of primary care physicians who will use the hospital. The trick there is to position the hospital in a place where it is the most convenient and/or most desirable one for the physicians AND the patients to use. That'll take a mountain of research to decide for most areas.

Next, you need land and a building: that's going to cost a mountain of money! Your hospital will need to have a full-scale, hospital-grade laboratory (Kiss about a million bucks goodbye there, if you're lucky); diagnostic imaging (Kiss several million bye-bye, if you plan to have MRI and CT, which are "basics" in hospitals anymore--unless you contract with a group that supplies mobile MRI and CT services a day or two a week), surgery (That's another humungus mountain of money), respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, cardiac services, an emergency department and of course you're going to need patient rooms (Anymore, you need at least 50 beds and an ICU of four or more beds), nursing staff, at least one pathologist, two radiologists, housekeeping, a handful (at least 3) pharmacists....

OK, enough. Look, even for a very small hospital, say 50 general beds and 4 ICU beds, you're talking on the order of five to ten million for the barest minimum of services. That totally ignores the operating expenses you'll have for the first six to twelve months, when you can't count on being able to make ends meet.

Um, the bottom line: this is the 21st century, dude. On the whole, a single individual hasn't got the bucks for that.

Don't rush to judge his English, he/she could be a secret millionaire, if he is asking about this, he has great potential to do it otherwise the idea would never cross his mind to the point of inquiring. The whole world does not speak English yet there are billionaires out there who cant speak a word of English.
Rabbit lover go for it ,where there is a will there is way, don't be discouraged, go on an build the new millennium state of the art hospital, I support you and I will be a nurse in your hospital , I will give you my email address if you need info about nursing management of the hospital

ARE YOU NUTS? if you actually have access to that kind of serious capital, why on earth would you seek advice here? You need a lawyer and a board of directors, to start, and a trained medical administration advisor. Your use of grammar does not indicate a command of the English language, so I have trouble seeing this as a serious question.

I think that you should contact a health insurance ageny to answer the questions you are asking
Also when you allot new doctors, you will understand what kind of money you will need to invest.
I would think about getting your clients together first ( Doctors, nurses, etc)

This sounds like a homework question and you really want someone else to do the research for you.

Nobody wakes up one day and says, "Hmmm, I think I am going to build a hosptial...let me go to Yahoo Answers for advice."

You can try a "Doll Hospital". There is a lot of money in antique dolls and stuffed animals these days, and you don't need to be an M.D.

I hope you have a lot of money at hand. Hospitals are multi-million (if not billion) dollar buildings.

Ummm, if you have to be asking these questions you probably should not be trying to open up a hospital.
