Dachshunds are a very versitle breed and are people lovers. They come in the standard size as well as the mini. size and in 3 coat varieties, smooth, long, wire-haired. They are a smaller dog but have the courage and spunk of a large dog and are a hound so they make great dogs for children and wonderful watch dogs. They are just as happy inside or outside and love to play.

My suggestion is not to look so much at what's a good dog to have inside a house. Look at your characteristics. What kinds of actvities do you like to do? Do you stay at home a lot or are you out a lot? What's your living situation (yard size, street proximity, park/woods nearby ......) Do you want a watch dog? Do you want a lap dog? Do you want a dog that follows you around constantly or a dog that is independent but loyal?

Depends on what you are looking for in a "little dog". If you are wanting a one person dog & somewhat of a watch dog, consider a Chihuahua. They are very good companions, some are a little stubborn. But, they are a very insistant dog, & accept you as you are. If you are looking for a lap dog and a companion, consider the Schitzu. These dogs are very comfortable with a one or two person family, love all your attention, and sit on your lap forever.

Depends on your prefrence. I have a pug, hes little enough for the house but doesn't look like a "yappie" dog. Mini Shelties are nice too.

Cockapoo, Maltese, Shi-itzu, Bichon.....
They're all good. Get the one that wags its tail the fastest, when you come up to it.
