where to start?

you get your sundays and your wednesday nights back. That's COOOOOL.

you open your mind and you can read any book and listen to any record.

You can entertain any thought or idea, and accept or reject it on its merits, judged objectively.

you can put yourself in other peoples' shoes.

you can stop listening to shite music.

sex is OK as well.

you can try dope but if you've been through the Christian thing properly then dope holds few fascinations - not worth it.

you can be friends with anyone you respect, no matter what they look like or what books they read.

the penny can truly drop with regard to evolution, Crick & Watson, matter, energy, etc

you can take climate change seriously

you can live in the truth of the present rather than obliterating it in your mind because of a non-existent future

you don't have to saw your own nob of because of it "causing you to sin".

i could go on all night.

Knowing that I live a moral life and I am accepting of others. And if it just so happens that I am wrong and there is a God one of two things will happen.
1. I will go to heaven because what is most important is being a good person and not hurting others or judging others.
2. Or I won't because that god is egotistical and more concerned with people having blind faith in him and I will be in hell with the other nonbelievers, while all those who believe will be in heaven with all those murderers and child molesters/abusers who were saved.
Oh and not having to sit and listen to a long boring sermon on a nice Sunday while daydreaming about being outside.

Comment to St. Toad:

The world may be a much friendlier place; However, what does God himself, think?

I don't think there's anything good about being an ex-Christian. Anyone truly a Christian, has joy --- not regret...not resentment...not a SELF oriented perspective either...

God must be put first, and self last. That's why people who 'attempt' Christianity fail. They put themselves first.

And like someone already commented: He does recieve people back, if they genuinely come looking for forgiveness. (Each to his own however... I'm not here to force religion or Christianity on anyone>)

God BLess.

The best thing is that God is always there and his mercy is limitless, what exactly makes you an ex-christian? Were you ever filled with the Holy Ghost? If so, how can you put what unsaved people would call your conscience out? And if not, then were you truly a Christian to begin with?

You have a place to start. I was once christian, but not all of the christian beliefs were what I believe in. So I made my own religion. I still worship the same god, even though I gave him a different name other than just "god" (i am also making my own language. In this language, the word for almighty leader of justice and good is "ekite").

You just want to do the stuff you know is sinful. It may be fun now,but you will see a day when you say:what in the world made me do that? I think also, before you go to sleep,a little sweat may pop up on your for-head,and you know you are wrong. Some things are true whether you believe them or not.

It's funny. A lot of active Christians have put down some pretty angry answers to your question. How the hell would they know?

It's like living night and day inside a tiny patch of light, half blind but never knowing it -- until you finally find the courage to reach out and turn on the light of reason and wisdom that illuminates the universe.

Nothing is hidden. Nothing is secret. Anything you can read, anything you can see, you can comprehend. The whole world is open to your understanding.

And with no worries about how to secure entry into a never-never-land afterlife, your energies and enthusiasm can be concentrated on today and tomorrow. Which is really all we have, isn't it?
