Why not ask Mexico if they would like to become part of the United States ? This would cure the problem of illegal immigration and make the U.S.A. even bigger and stronger then it currently is. I think it would be a profitable idea. What do you think ? Please try to be open minded about this.

So far I have only read short sided answers. In the short term yes there would be some problems , But after the fray settled out I think too that the prosperity of both Nations would prosper and become stronger. It would take some time, but once the balance of land and people were in order. As for the dollar going down hill, na it would never happen. the social security system is already in the dumpster. As for all the other closed mined answers.

Um... Ok, here is a question for you. Are you prepared to see the dollar become worth about as much as the Japanese yen? Where a loaf of bread is worth $150?

Mexcio is a disaster, the economy a wreck. Why in the universe would we want to absorb, similate, or allow Mexico to become a state? As to the "illegal immigrants" they should be rounded up and shipped back to the county from which they came. Either that, or start sending our criminals to them as immigrants. With or without papers.

Then build a mile wide stretch of asphalt that goes across ou border, put lights up, and motion ssensors, and then shoot anyone trying to cross at an unauthorized border crossing.

This will deter illegal migration.

Mexico is imposable to govern. It would not be any different if were part of the United States. The Mexican people wouldn't want to be part of the United States anyway. If they were, where would they go to rip people off and take all there jobs and rune there economy. They can grow and manufacture drugs legally in Mexico and bring them here and sell them for huge profits. If they were part of the US it would cost them so much to keep the government paid off so they could grow and manufacture, it would void there profit. There are lots of other reasons, to numerous to mention here.

Oh.........,and what about all the lawlessness, how in the world would they ever learn to obey laws?? It would take generations.!! There disreguard for laws is not just for here in the US, it is a way of life in Mexico.

Yeah, I totally agree. I do feel compassion towards illegal immigrants because Mexico is a poor country, and America is the land of the free. However, I think being here illegally is wrong. I say if you want to come to the USA, come on, but just do it the right way!

The problem is that Mexico is a third world country. How do we raise them to a first world country? Would we have to lower our standard of living? Its a complicated issue that wont be easily resolved. But you make a good point, I think the our current govt is going global and I think that will eventually happen...

I will agree, are you crazy? Mexico would be a drain on welfare systems, give almost nothing to the tax base, plus you think our political system is crooked, look at thier people, giving bribes is just standard procedue from the cop on the beat to the electric company and more.

Go back to buidling the fence, and let them get thier own county in order

Profitable for who? The former citizens of Mexico sure. The former citizens of the U.S.A. not so much. We would have increased expenses for policing, upgrades to utilities, establishment of new governments there, ID's, getting them up to standards on emmissions, cleanup of pollutants, education, retirement benefits, unemployment benefits, upgrading hospitals...need I go on?

ARE YOU CRAZY?

So why they are always saying ILLEGAL this ILLEGALS that..no one knows whi's really al LEGAL immigrant or not, but our fellow AMERICAN CITIZENS hate the color of their skin, it's a simple matter of racism...

As far as everything but human rights, this is exactly what NAFTA did.

That is what the problem is. If you want to exploit people's labor, then you should at least allow them basic human rights.
