If he's over the first few days any ill effects from abruptly stopping that medication are over...indeed they are never very bad but some people find them unpleasant - light headedness, nausea, constipation or diarrhea, etc. are about as bad as it could get.
Overall it will take about 30 days to see a reversal of whatever effect the medication was exerting. So heads up in about 30 days. If you son is "suddenly" sullen, angry, irritable, prone to a temper outbursts, unmotivated, or anxious, then it very well could be what he's like when not taking an antidepressant. And he probably should resume the medication.

Thats probably one of the worst ideas! Zoloft sucks...I'll give you that but the withdrawal symptoms from it suck even more. Go to the DR. and get them to write you a weening schedule but make sure it is someone with experience otherwise they will take you off much too quickly. Its really not worth the pain and lost days to just stop cold turkey I promise.

It's probably okay to just stop taking it. Depending on the dosage, though, the side effects can be quite uncomfortable for a few days.
You may want to talk to him and/or take him to a doctor, though. Clinical depression (i'm assuming that's what the zoloft was for) is something that you shouldn't just stop treating.

NO!NO! NO! you never just stop taking any kind of medication like that, the doctor needs to advise you on how to do it. I would think the doctor would wean them off a little at a time. It tells you right on the instructions to never stop taking without your doctors advise.

If you just stop cold turkey, there can be some withdrawal symptoms. These differ, but can include irratibility, headache, etc. It's better to taper off, if you are stoping. For example, take every other day, then every 3 days, etc.

Follow the dr's advice. It's probably not safe to quit cold turkey. Good luck!

If it was prescribed by a psychiatrist or physician, no. If your ex is one of those people who thinks they know everything because they saw it on TV, take him off it.
