Assuming you're talking about used cars....

No. Most of the time you're overpaying by nearly 50% compared to used car lots and private sellers.

The advantage to buying from a dealership is that all their cars are required to be safety checked. Also you have a legal recourse if the car ends up being a lemon or salvaged. Used car dealers can just leave town in the middle of the night.

I purchased a 1988 Honda Accord for $999 at a Nissan dealership and it was a fantastic car. I drove it 25,000 miles without a problem before selling it for $600 a year later. Great car.

A new car or used car?
The best car deal you can make is in September, when the newer cars are being delivered to the car dealers. Now they have to make room for the new models, and get rid of the last years. You can usually haggle them down on last years model, which is essentially a new car anyways (never been driven). If you want the best car on the lot, try to buy the "test drive" car. Sure, it'll have some mileage on it, but has been perfectly maintained so that every potential customer that has driven it thinks its perfect. Plus, the dealership has done all the maintenance on it during its "breaking in" period.

No you do not. I went shopping for a 1999 Honda Crv. Now this car was worth around 9,000 dollars.
Now i wanted this car bad and I went to many private sellers and they sold that veichle for around 9,000. Now just being me i wanted to go to a dealership and see what a used one would cost there. I go to 3 honda dealerships and sold this car for 20,000. I was shocked left and bought me self that CRV. Knowing this a dealership will always rip you off never a private dealer.

Good Luck!!!!!!

It all depends, different towns, different prices.I don't know why, people always think the dealership is higher and sometimes its not!
