There's no fixed number. Getting knocked out causes trauma to the brain, but how much depends on how hard you were hit, whether it took you by surprise, exactly where you were hit, and a few other things that introduce so many variables that a definite number can't be given. You _could_ be killed by just one knockout punch if it broke an important blood vessel or damaged the motor centers. Also, what were you hit with? A padded boxing glove, somebody's fist, or something really hard like a lead ;pipe or glass bottle?
Going by the record with boxers, who are trained to protect themselves, are braced to take a hit, use padded gloves, and are where they can get medical attention quickly: 3 or 4 knockouts will cause enough brain damage to show up in your behavior. 6-8 will definitely put a guy in a permanent punchdrunk state. By that time the guy is too uncoordinated to get into the ring, so how much more he could absorb before actually dying is anybody's guess, but 15 or 16 would probably be the upper limit.

It doesn't work like that. It's the damage you do each time you get knocked out. I don't believe a study's ever been done on knocking someone out until he dies. How hard is the blow? Is it a hit on the head or is it Whippits or oxygen deprivation.
Frankly, it only takes ONE knockout to kill you. If it's hard enough and in the right place.

The last time that you are knocked out will be how many times it takes plus it depends on how fragile and where you get hit.
