There is simply no basis in reason to sustain a belief in god... other than wishful thinking. Think about the nature of your belief. Evil spirits... good spirits... talking snakes and donkeys... parting seas... chasing demons out of people and into pigs. To be ruled by ideas for which you have no evidence (and which therefore cannot be justified in conversation with other human beings) is generally a sign that something is seriously wrong with your mind. Clearly there is sanity in numbers....Jesus Christ—who, as it turns out, was born of a virgin, cheated death, and rose bodily into the heavens—can now be eaten in the form of a cracker. A few Latin words spoken over your favorite Burgundy, and you can drink his blood as well. Is there any doubt that a lone subscriber to these beliefs would be considered mad? Rather, is there any doubt that he would be mad? The danger of religious faith is that it allows otherwise normal human beings to reap the fruits of madness and consider them holy. Because each new generation of children is taught that religious propositions need not be justified in the way that all others must, civilization is still besieged by the armies of the preposterous. We are, even now, killing ourselves over ancient literature. Who would have thought something so tragically absurd could be possible?

Sweetie, 'god' has the same importance in everyone's life. Your 'belief' is what is important in yours.
A lot of people belief in a supreme intelligence. A lot don't believe your version of that ultimate authority to be very valid, based on the book that describes an evil, vengeful male diety as the creative force of the universe. Wake up.

there is no way to prove god wrong. i understand that you are not trying to pick a fight, but you genuinely want to know why people don't believe in god. i wonder that too. i also wonder what people think. do they think we were just put on this earth to be born, grow up, reproduce and die. no. i believe there is a greater purpose for us! Amen to you sister!!!!
also, some people are wondering why god allows suffering. it's because if a man/woman sins, he will punish them till their fourth generation. also, the Bible does mention dinosaurs as large, dragon-like beings. does that answer some questions?

Because you can get by just as well by not believing in God. Just as God is the "most important being" in your life, something else can fill that role for someone else. You're welcome to believe in God, but don't judge those who don't. They probably get just as annoyed at you for trying to prove God exists.

Watch footages of WW1, WW2, Korean War, Vietnam War, 9/11 and tell me there's a god....
I don't believe in god because no one can explain to me how man is MILLIONS of years old (proven) yet religion is only several thousands years old. If there really were god, wouldn't everyone be born with his knowledge and not have to be taught in classrooms like mathematics?
And why aren't there mentioning of dinosaurs (also proven) in the bible? They were here much longer than man but no mention of them anywhere. Why is that?
Seriously.... what good is god and praying when god doesn't do anything about it? Look at those miners in PA who were trapped in a cave...... when there were reports that they had all survived, their family started shouting "praise the lord!"... and but it turned out to be false and they all died except one... they left the church in anger. So what happened to your faith? Why didn't god save them??????
And you're telling me that dinosaurs, which roamed earth for HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF YEARS gets only a small mention as "dragon like creatures"?????? LOL
What a crock of **** religion is....
ANSWER THIS QUESTION... if man were immortal, would you still believe in god? I don't think so.....

You can't prove he/she/it exists. God is just an excuse for people to not take charge of their own lifes. I feel sorry for you if he/she/it/whatever is the most important being in your life - actually I feel sorry for the other people in your life as they count for less than a non-existent figment of imagination.

I'm happy for you. But please don't disrespect my choice not to agree with you.
I have many reasons not to believe - some based on reason, some based on intellect, some based on my gut-feeling. Too many to list here. I won't try to prove youwrong, because I have no reason to do that.
Enjoy your life. Don't get upset about other people. And remember that a person is a person - no matter what he believes.

Because it is their choice, not yours. Importance is in the eye of the beholder. I want to know not, not believe. I don't know if there is or isn't a God, But I am not going to get all belligerent about it.

You have a very antagonistic attitude. You believe in god, and obviously your faith is important to you. Congratulations - but respect the decision of others to be more questioning.
