10-15 years.
The average life span for a parrot in captivity is considerably shorter than his potential life span. This is due mostly to nutritional problems and a lack of veterinary care early in a disease process. Birds will do their best to hide their illness, sometimes until they’re too ill to recover.
A rule of thumb is that the larger the bird, the longer the lifespan. A bird's actual lifespan depends on whether or not it is receiving proper nutrition, veterinary care and attention. Feeding your bird a nutritional diet, keeping the cage and feeding dishes clean and seeking veterinary help before a bird becomes very ill is your best guarantee of it having a long, healthy lifespan.

I have a peach faced lovebird for nearly 11 years now. Bought her as a baby and was hand-fed. I found that if I imitate her chirping and other noises that on some level that we can communicate. He knows my footsteps and my sound of my voice compared to the other family members in the house. Just recently bought Benny an interactive bird toy from DOCTORS FOSTERS AND SMITH online. The toy has buttons that he can touch with his beak and a small mirror. He can now respond to I love you response with one of four recorded messages in the toy. So we tell each other that several times a day. He also smiles alot which I consider a form of communication.

In captivity birds will live much longer than I the wild. There are no predators which cause extreme stress and never ending alertness, droughts witch cause food shortages and water, deforestation which cause habitat loss and a shortage of food and over crowding causing disease. In captivity the average animal bird, cat, etc. life span should double in years. in the wild lovebirds only live for about 5 to 7 years. They are prayed on by smaller African cats, birds of pray and snakes.

That depends
If your bird is on a seed only diet, with little or no human social interaction, about 3-7 years
If your bird is on a nutrtitous diet with lots of fresh fruits and veggies, and foods high in beta carotene like cooked yams, and carrots, with lots of human attention and out of the cage time, your lovebird can live for 15 years
