Jesus was and Arab, not an AA.
So yes, I would display a black one just as fast as a white one.
Both are innaccurate.

Why do you think it makes a difference? Could it be that you harbor your own racist assumptions? After all, there are quite a few "white" Buddhists, and they have no trouble with figures of the Buddha that have Asiatic features -- which are pretty much inaccurate anyway, since he was born in Nepal.

People often get very confrontational about this when I have taught world religions; asking if I "know" that Jesus/Moses/David/ etc were "Black."

They miss the point, of course, that Christianity was the religion of Europe for 1700 years or so, and that the people of that region imagined (and depicted) a god who looked like them. In areas, such as Ethiopia, where African culture and physiognomy predominated, they imagined god as looking like them. That's normal.

I've never met a Christian who had seen Jesus driving license picture; none of us "know: what Jesus looked like, or any other biblical figure. And it isn't very important; what is important is learning what your religion teaches and learning how to practice it in a way that allows your to function as a part of a broader society (that may include people who do not believe as your believe or have the same sort of pictures on their walls!).

Attempts to stir up meaningless controversy about side "issues" of little or no significance is not conducive to understanding, tolerance or civil society.

Nope. Jesus wasn't black. He was Hebrew.

For that matter, would black people proudly display a Black Jesus or God figure in their home, sanctuary, etc, knowing he was Hebrew?

Do we make God in our image now?

I'm white and I'm a Christian and I'm not prejudice one bit. If I knew that Jesus was a black man or any other race, I would have no problem putting His picture on my wall. I have several pictures of Jesus in my house. But regardless of what race He was, I still believe in Him and love Him all the same.

Jesus loves everyone, regardless of their skin color. Did you ever hear the childrens song called "Jesus Loves the Little Children"? All the Children of the World. Red or yellow, black or white they are precious in His sight, Jesus Loves the little children of the world.

I just wish all humans could be like Jesus, not prejudiced towards each other.

Good question. It was forced on us that Jesus was white, even though we now know that is wrong, so would white people be so accepting as to have a black Jesus in their home? My church is full of paintings of the jesus and the apostles and their all white and i'm sick of it. I remember coloring in the faces in my bible study book brown as a child. I think if people are gonna have a picture of Jesus with blond hair and blue eyes, they should have one of him with brown skin and dreadlocks too.

yeah, I mean if I got a picture of a black Jesus, I wouldn't mind displaying it, because I don't see anything wrong with the color of ones skin, but everyone knows Jesus was a Nazerean, so His skin was more dark than light, but kinda in between. there are some beautiful pictures a hispanic Marys, and I have one hanging in my room. I also have the Chinese Mary too!

Jesus was not white or black... in all liklyhood he was of olive complection... tending to the darker tone... So what? dose that matter... no true likness on Jesus exisits... I am content to wait untill I meet him to find out what he looks like... I am much more concerned for who and what He is... The Sacrifice that alows mankind the last chance to come to God.

No one person of any race has the same ideas and beliefs of all the others in that race. Everyone is an individual. Maybe some would, maybe some would not. You'd have to ask the individual. Otherwise the answer just reflects another prejudice.

Not even if He was black - which He obviously wasn't.
