80 is high, and an increase in a resting pulse after a glass of wine or light booze might be a symptom.
If you are very overweight, you maybe at risk for attendant
maladies, such as diabetes.
If you are not, off to the 'Y' with you, kid! Time to get into shape!!
Shalom

I think that 80 beats per minute is a good pulse rate, especially for a younger person (roughly 40 years old and under). In general terms, I would say that 60 beats per minute, or one beat per second would be ideal. HOWEVER, I AM NOT A PHYSICIAN. Younger people tend to have higher pulse rates because their metabolism is faster.

The pulse rate goes up when people consume alcohol, because alcohol is a stimulant that increases the rate of body functions. A rise in pulse rate is normal following alcohol consumption. I am not sure how long alcohol stays in the body before it is gone. I believe that it could stay in the body for as long as two days. Women are advised to refrain from breast feeding for two days after drinking alcohol.

A pulse rate of 80 is right in the middle of normal. Pulse rate range is 60 to 100. Under 60 is considered slow and is called bradycardia and over 100 is considered fast and is called tachycardia. Younger people do not have faster heart rates due to higher metabolism. In fact sometimes younger people that are athletic will actually have a very low pulse rate since the heart is toned and working well.

A pulse rate of 80 when resting is a bit high, but not dangerously so. As for the red wine, I gots no idea.
