Some people like to get a rise out of you especially if they know they can. To them any response even a negative one tells them you still care. The worst thing you can to is respond to him. Simply add his email address to your blocked list and when stop reacting to him, he will realize that you are unaffected by him and that you have moved on.

Hi... something similar has happened to me. My ex from half a year ago, sent me a message the other day saying the same thing your ex said and I regressed all the progress I have made on trying to move on, now.. the damn message is all I think about. As you... I don't understand the point of the message or why he did it. I think and think and this is what I come up with:
1) He really wanted to know how things were with you?
2) He wants to know if you are moving on so he can move on as well without feeling guilty about it.
3) He wants to remind you that he is alive, so you don't forget when you go out on a date with Mr. hotty (who you met last week and asked you out on a date)
4) He finally had some time alone after partying his *** of and realizes he misses you? I don't know the answer but all I can advice you is 2 wait, time will tell and I do believe he will contact you again so be prepared and good luck.

Don't listen to those telling you to contact him for any reason. The ones telling you to ignore it have it right. I'm a guy too and sometimes we do take long to get over someone. He's looking for interest from you "either positive or negative" as was said before. If you say anything to him he will for sure contact you again and more frequently.

Ignore it. Men (I am one) can take a very long time to get over an old relationship. We can be obsessive. Watch out for yourself if you don't trust him.

He might or might not be interested, but he is definitely 'fishing' for interest from you. Ignore it.

My ex gf does the same exact thing to me from time to time. I think they miss us because we are a good thing but if they were good they wouldnt be our ex's. Let it go if you want to. I tried letting my ex back in the first time she did it and it was a misserable failure.
