I have never tried it but my friend has. It works and her hair is straight. Give it a shot if you would want your hair to be straight instead of straightening every single morning. Good Luck!

I had it done a few years ago on my curly, caucasian hair. It worked really well, but I could not adjust to having my hair lay so flat to my head. I did get some breakage, too. It was a mess growing it out.

I use a lye-based relaxer on my son who has long hair and it works just as well, if not better.

You can buy the professional Japanese products on Ebay for about 45.00. It's easy to do yourself at home. I think they charge WAY too much in the salon. All it really is anyway is a thickened perm solution that is combed through the hair. Then you rinse and apply the neutralizing solution. Some people say it works much better if you rinse the first solution out and then dry your hair as straight as you can get it before applying the neutralizer to the hair.

I find that using a good quality straightening iron works better than the chemical straighteners, anyway. I like the GVP(Generic Value Product)iron from Sally's Beauty Supply for around 50.00. It really does work as well as the Chi iron that I had(dropped it and broke it)before. Glad your hair turned out well.
