If you do not want to be in any religion, than that is okay. I am a Catholic because they are my people and I was born and raised in the faith. I believe in God and Jesus because I see them as teachers and not people who should be feared (which is what many gullible and born again Christians believe), but I would never force my religion on anyone and the only time I would say someone is going to Hell is if they crossed me, and by that I mean hurt me or made me feel bad. Catholics should not force anything on anyone even though I know some of them have. This goes for all religions. They should never force anything on anyone. If you do not want to believe in anything, that is your choice and that is okay. You are human and all humans are different. If we were alike imagine how stupid this world would be. I have always told people to find their own path and be an individual. In the words of Fleetwood Mac "You can go your own way."

you shouldnt want to be involved in a religion that does that.

i am a Christian and attend a pentecostal church. our individuality is celebrated because that was how God made us. we are not forced to deny our differences. we are not all the same so we can carry out different jobs/ministries. through our individuality we unite for a common cause.

we do not hide our hurt and fake happiness. we help eachother work through hard times. we are not robots and we are not perfect. to pretend anything would hinder our growth and work.

i know you said you weren't interested in Christianity and im not trying to sell you on it either... i just hope you can keep an open mind and see me (a Christian) as a real person.

There are many religions. A religion that does not bring you peace, happiness, and a desire to help others is not the right one for you. Even within your religion, there are a variety of philosophies. Often people caught in the eveil of fundamentalist or conservative religious elements are unhappy. Try the more liberal versions of your religion before giving up on your religion for another.

I can't blame you for not wanting to be a christian, they have their (vocal) conservartive and fundamentalist elements too. They also preach hatred, rather than love.

Again, I say, if the place where you worship does not give you peace, and happiness, and make you feel the desire to help others, you must leave it and find another place to worship that gives you those things. Everything else in life requires hard work and sacrifice in order to suceed. Your parents taught you the best way they knew. You need to take it from there and do the work and sacrifice to find the place of worhsip that is in harmony with your soul.

Christianity does not deny you as an individual, nor does it insist that you deny yourself or your problems. When Jesus says to deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow me he is asking for you to commit to a change of life where the old you is cast of and the new you in Christ marches forward. This is what the gospel is all about---newness in Christ. When you go the religious route---which is not Christianity---then you enslave yourself to legalism in which your identity is destroyed and is replaced by something false that the religious leaders want you to exhibit. This is the work of the devil. Jesus loves you and he accepts you as God made you. You and everyone else that has been born since the fall of Adam has had his/her life corrupted by the devil. Christ came and died for you so that your sins could be absolved in his blood. Trust Jesus.

Religion isn't for everyone. I was raised in church and when I got older I became more sane when I stopped trying to fit the perfect mold you're expected to fit into.
I'm not a bad person for not liking organized religion. You should never deny the way you feel.

Religion is a very personal choice.
I have faith but detest organized religion for the same reason. The hypocracy is just too much for me to swallow. I take my personal faith from many religious traditions and at least respect the fact that I won't agree with all of any one individual religious dogma.

Keep looking for the light switch.

Just remember as you travel around the room searching trying to escape the voice you ultimately will end up in the place you started where the voice eminates from and the switch is.

okay?? so don't be, no one is forcing you to do anything, by me talking about Christ this is called sharing my beliefs, you most certainly do not have to do anything much less even listen if you do not want to. Obviously you have had bad experiences with Christians and for that I am sorry. But as you do not want me to force ( as you call it) my beliefs or opinions down your throat do not do the same to me by implying that I am ignorant or stupid because I do not share your beliefs.

I wouldn't want to be involved in such a religion either, thank goodness Christianity is not like that!
