Yes they should be allowed to step in and persuade against military service. The recruiters do not tell the whole truth about service and give a utopian vision of what service means. A group needs to be there to offer a second view and point out things the military may not mention.
For those saying they are unpatriotic and anti-government lets point out that militant groups recruit through offering a better way of life then trap the new recruit with threats of life. The US military traps their people by contracts and at war threats of death. This is called human trafficing and is to be illegal. Yes the person may join of their own free will but with out a group offering facts as to what service means asides from "serving your glorious country" the US military is only serving its own agenda.

I think so. Recruiters LIE. If people truely believe in freedom then the other side should be presented so kids can make an educated choice. Otherwise they will listen to recruiters and take thier fun little DVD's appealing to thier sports interests like NASCAR etc. next thing you know they could be a charred corpse hanging off a bridge in Iraq. Who wants thier son or daughter to be that?
Kids should get a bit of knowledge about what they might be doing in the military before signing on. But that is a well kept secret and people don't wnat that.
Praise be for http://www.veteransforpeace.org a worthy cause.

Absolutely! When I was working in a high school in SC, I used to see recruiters there all the time. I've heard so many stories of their promises that turned out to be lies. They promise anything, and so many kids, not seeing any other options to escape their small towns or poverty, believe what they're told, and sign up. These are schools, after all... they should be teaching our kids about looking at both sides of an issue and making an informed decision, not coercing them with half-truths and outright lies.

No, they have their own agenda and many are down right unpatriotic
many were discharged with dishonorable or other than honorable discharges and have a bias against our government and the military
