Qur'an is the closest. The letter 'qaf' in Arabic that is the first letter in Qur'an sounds more like the q in English than the k. Not to be confused with the qu which makes a 'kw' sound. Kinda confusing, but the Arabic 'qaf' is pronounced from the throat rather than the top of the mouth like the k. Example: http://lexicorient.com/babel/arabic/001.htm
Everyone will know what you mean whatever spelling you use.

Both, they are attempts to translate a letter and sound that does not exist in English into English. You get the same thing with the Japanese R which is about midway between an R and an L.and a lot of other languages get the same problems with English not being able to express the sounds.

The preferred spelling by many is Qur'an. It captures the guttural sounds of the Arabic letters "qaf" and "ayn" better than the alternate spellings of Koran or Coran.
