Boing, McDonald Douglas, and Halliburton get paid millions, and even billions of dollars to produce tanks, hallicopters, and missiles. If we are not in a position to use them, these companies do not profit. Is it possible that these multimillion dollar corporations have infiltrated policy making in the form of buisness men turned politicans i.e. Dick Cheney. Dick Cheney left politics for a while to work as a contractor for Haliburton at the Pentagon. It was his job to sell contracts to the Government for weaponry. He was a door to door shoe salesman, but for weapons. Surprise, after the war, Haliburton was awarded a multi-billion dollar contract. So, if we ellect business men to make our laws, won't they be more inclined to make laws that benefit their buisness vs. what is best for us. Eisenhower, warned of war profitering not for the sake of the american people but for the sake of buisness, I believe we are living his fear, and that his fear is one that can erode America.

Yes we are. Most people probably don't have a clue what you are talking about, but we have been in the MIC phase since the Korean War. It has nothing to do with Dem or Rep presidents. They all have their hands in that cookie jar.

Actually, that's an interesting mantra you chant about your manifesto, there, but no........ we're probably the post-military/industrial era. That would have been during the Reagan years when we spent billions and billions on military buildup during the final years of the cold war. We won that cold war, by the way. You're probably too young to remember all of this. Actually.....since then we've downsized quite a bit. We used to keep enough nuclear missiles around to blow up the world's population dozens of times over. Sure, a few people might have played dirty with Halliburton...but that's peanuts compared to what we used to do with military buildup. Right now the issues of all of our dollars going to China to make all of our goods we buy at Wal-Mart and the billions we spend on our 12 MILLION BARREL a day oil fix from the muslim zealots in the middle east are much bigger issues in the social/political/economic ball game than what you're pointing out.

no. eisenhower wasn't making any big nostradamus like prediction of a far off future event. he was talking about an ongoing state that should be kept in check. the thing is yes, there is a lot of money being made in the defense industry but look what advancements have been made...they are crucial to our defense and ultimately save American lives by making us a more effective military power. that anyone has infiltrated government for the express purpose of obtaining contracts for weapons manufacturers, that remains to be proven.

Since conception, America has been steeped in war. That is not going to change because of the UN. We will defend ourselves at all costs, and will build our weapons at home. Therefore, in order to put the weapons in the hands of soldiers capable of using them, those weapons must be manufactured by companies in the USA and bought by the government. If you call that a military industrial complex I could care less. Just make sure those weapons are ready so you and I can sleep at tonight, quite unlike people in Lebanon and Israel.
