i have an awful phobia of eyeballs, i freak out whenever i have to think about them and get all shakey, and the though of needles going into eyes. is this normal? and how can i calm myself down?

I used to be the same way as a child. But my mother told me not to think about things that I had no control over. (No one is putting a needle in your eye.) It worked for me, but I am still mildly squeamish. Don't let things consume your thoughts. You are in charge over the thinks you think about consiously.

Was you watching any type of horror movie that showed such things as eyeballs being gouged out or needles being in them or what? Did you see this at some hospital or at some eye doctor's?
No, it is not unusual that you are afraid of such thing. Maury just had a woman on who screamed her lungs out when she saw a tray of pickles-PICKLES!-and went running out of the studio. Hell, Tyra Banks is afraid of dolphins. I'm afraid of mice, so there.
Say to yourself that this is a little unusual, but, people are afraid of different things. Mines just happens to be eyeballs. They are not going to hurt me physically in any way, shape or form, I will be fine. Mice carry diseases, pickles can choke you (if jammed down your throat) and dolphins-well, they have teeth and can bite.
Consider yourself a little lucky.

Imagine a railroad spike flying through the air and shanking you in the eye, spewing pus and fluid and various other liquids. Do this several times a day, until your phobia is gone.

Eyeballs are freaky man. I'm with you. and ewww needles and eyeballs. Don't see once upon a time in mexico.
