This is probably a sign that her boobs are growing, not her period. She might be a bit too young for that just now. Have her take a couple of warm/hot soaking baths during the week, this should help. Also try getting her a new trainer bra. Good luck with puberty.

I have known a 9 year old who started her period. I didn't start until I was 11, but I did have breast in the 4th grade (9-10 years old).
We all know tenderness is a sign of PMS, so let her know what may be going on so she will be prepared.
Also, make sure she isn't sore from some sport or activity; she could be injured somehow. (Just to be sure.)

I read an article several years ago at the doctor's office - there has been a rise in girls as young as 9 going into puberty.
It also spoke of the difficulties this raises for these girls personally and socially. She could soon get her period. I guess someone needs to have an early talk with her.

I remember getting sharp pains in my chest at about 10 years old, and yes by 11 I was a b cup..lol I bet its growing pains, but who is to say. I also started my period at 11. I wouldnt give you definite yes that it means it coming, but the fact that she is developing tells me its not far off :) Maybe when she is 10 or 11. Hope mom has had the monthly talk with her and just to get her ready, just in case. GL!

There is a good chance of it though it may not start right away. And it is normal to start so young, it just means she will reach menopause at a younger age. I personally started at age 10.

My daughters pediatricians kid got her period at 8!!!! Sick huh! You can start with all your changes, including tenderness up to a year and a half BEFORE her period actually comes.

I developed breasts at the young age of eight and got my period at nine. The achiness is a good indication that her hormone levels are high and she could start soon.

I know girls that started having their periods at nine. Yes, breasts (that look a bit more fuller than usual) can be a sign that she's about to have her period. Other signs include:
*White blood (irregular discharge)
*Headaches
*Irritability
*Mood Swings (PMS)
*Abdominal Cramps
