How about yellow squash?

5-7 minutes for the carrots 15-20 minutes for the squash

It's easier to steam them (and quicker) if you will slice them on a diagonal or julienne them. Yellow squash is less dense than carrots, so it will take a couple minutes less to steam, but if you're doing whole carrots, then I have no idea. I would seriously NOT recommend steaming whole squash, because I don't think the skin would absorb much water. Good luck! :)

Takes about 10 minutes or so. Be sure to slice them all the same size.

Another option is boiling for 3-4 minutes, then dipping them into ice water to stop the cooking. This will keep them crisp and tender.
