Do yo think it should have a playmate...and if yes:...Do you think it should be the same breed?

I have a small dog who used to have a playmate but no longer does. I give him plenty of attention and walk him and he's just fine. I definitely don't think it's necessary and, sometimes, it's not a good idea at all. All dogs don't necessarily bond and become close pals.

Hey! I have a small dog, a dachsund to be more precise. She does not have any playmate and i don't think she needs one because they are very jealous and having 2 dogs implies givin' both some attention.
I have already tried to bring another dog in and she kinda reacted pretty bad. I know she used to live with her mother and they would fight all the time. So my advice is: if u want to have 2 dogs, choose a male and a female (if they have the same gender they will fight), breed doesn't really count, but remember to spain & nooder them first.

i think it should have a playmate because how would you like it if you was that dog but didn't have any friends, and if it a puppy defiantly a playmate unless you want everything chewed up, but it doesn't have to be the same breed

Unless you have a lot of time to devote to a small breed dog, a companion would be nice. Doesn't have to be the same breed. I've seen small breeds befriend cats!

Dont get another dog for your dog. Get another dog if you want and can care for another dog. As far as breed it dosnt matter too much as long as your around during the introduction. I have an american pitbull terrier and a yorkie/rat terrier mix.

I got my dog at the age of 4. she is a teckel(or daschound) now she is 8 and i got another dog to stay with her. the other dog is a french bulldog and they love each other. they are always together. I think u should buy another dog. but it needs to the the same sex.
