High gas prices are the American Public's fault. I'm afraid you may be a victim of the liberal democratic media telling you the lie that PRESIDENT Bush (he does have a title - it's not just "Bush." He has a title and deserves to have the respect of people to actually use it) is at fault. The President does his darndest trying to run this greatest country on earth and it doesn't help when victims fall prey to the liberal media and begin believing its lies. Give the government your faith - that's what it's there for - to provide for you and protect you.

The only way to get gas prices down is of the American people shut down for a few days. That means all the truckers need shut down their trucks, people need to stay home, not go to work, and not spend any money anywhere. Yes it might hurt the economy, but that's what it will take to get the government's attention, or hurt the oil company enough to where they have to lower the prices. The problem is getting the American people to participate because we are afraid of getting fired from our jobs if we do not show up for work. If we don't do something NOW, it is going to get so bad where people cannot afford to go to work!!! Which is worse? We suffer for a few days, or we suffer for the rest of our lives a few years from now? All this crap about the middle east is just an excuse for them to raise the gas prices! The oil industry and Bush are making a big profit off from this. If something is not done soon, gas could be as high as $10.00 a gallon a year from now. This is not exaggeration, this is a fact!

The fact is, prices are not all that high compared to the overall cost of living. Do some Googling for "inflation adjusted" gas price charts, you'll see that it's actually a moderate price right now.

So you have been fooled in several ways:
1) you listened to the idiots who blame everything on Bush
2) you listened to the idiots who forget about inflation (except when it helps their argument)
3) you listened to the idiots who think Iraq's supplies have any impact on world oil prices. Fact is, their oil exports were so small under Hussein, that removing them from the market had zero impact.

The biggest reason oil prices are high is that the rest of the world - places like China and India for example - are getting richer than they used to be (because of good old free enterprise) and their people are buying cars now. Plus their factories etc need fuel too. So... the demand is increasing.

Now the flip side, supply, is determined by a number of things, but one main constraint is the number of refineries. After all, it doesn't matter how much oil is in the ground, or how much you pump out - what matters is how much is available to run a motor. Do to that you need refineries, and there are only so many of those in the world.

So, you have demand going up, and supply going up, but slower than demand. Result: higher prices.

I don't think it's all Bush's fault, but he's definitely a major contributor. There's been shortages and wars since before I was born, but it's never been this bad. I just love how the bottom line is that the major oil companies are really raking in the profits right now, while saying there is absolutely nothing they can do to help with the gas prices.

well bush is an idiot i do agree with that but it would make no difference if we pulled out of iraq today it is the fact that most of the worlds oil is in anustable part of the world even if we pulled out today there is still isreal & lebanon and the potential for syria and iran to get involved in and we need more refineries in the us we are growing are consumption but i refinery capacity isnt gorwing with that but the bottom line is the price of oil will not go down alot untell the middle east is stable or we become less dependent on forign oil and if we did pull out of iraq it would just make the place even more unstable and the price of oil would only get higher i dont think iraq was a threat to us they hadnt been a threat sense they fought iran (1980-1988) but we are there now and we cant just bail out on all of those people we started it so now we have to finish it .

I imagine idiots, uninformed people, and those who watch enough of the network news (sorry for being so redundant) would all think that. No one who is truly aware of the way things are would think so - and gas prices here are still relatively cheap compared to what other countries pay. Oil is a finite resource, and we need to do a better job of conserving it and finding alternative sources of fuel, and of using reserves that are available to us, but not being used because of too many regulations and a conservation lobby that uses scare tactics.

president bush has nothing to do with the gas prices, and whats going on over there has nothing to do with it either, when oil prices go up (per barrel) the gas prices go up, and same when oil prices go down, i know i worked at a gas station for 5 years, and the gas stations have no control over it either

Gas is bound to go up as the supply deminishes. But I think a lot of it is because of the War and Bush.

Even if it wasn't Bush's fault we would still rely alot on foreign oil use because we (USA) dont have nearly enough.
