Why do our troops wear the flag backwards in their uniform sleve?

The flag is always worn so that the blue field is on the leading edge, as if the flag were waving in the breeze as the solder moves forward.

It's not backwards.

It's worn on the right shoulder (place of honor is on the right), with the star field forward - which gives the effect of the flag moving forward in the wind.

That flag is a mirror image of the one on the other sleeve.
