What is the cheapest airline to use from flying out of Tampa, Florida and going to Durango Colorado in February 2007. We would be leaving Feb, 15 and coming back Feb, 20. There will be 3 kids and 4 adults. Any websites would be helpful.

You have 3 choices flying into Durango, America West, Delta and United. America West has the best price as of right now of $454.20 per person or $3179.40 for all 7 passengers, after taxes.

Durango is not a city that will be discounted since it is a small city that is not traveled to like a larger city such as Denver. You can save about $100 flying to Denver, but I doubt it would save much by the time you supplement the gas or car rental to get to Durango.

You have plenty of time to do some price shopping, but be ware of the discount websites. They can be traps They put additional restrictions on tickets and can not be changed for any reason and the airlines wont touch them if there is a problem. Booking directly with the airline will save you booking fee's as well. This far out, prices and schedules are subject to change. The main thing is book no less than 30 days out to get the best fares. Airlines schedules will change in August and again in December usually, so keep that in mind too. If you book very far out you want to check the airlines schedule for flight times as well as flight number changes the closer it gets to departure time.

Should you choose to use a discount website, make sure you READ ALL OF THE FARE RULES before purchasing. Priceline, Hotwire, Cheap Tickets, Lowestfare...etc or any auction website are potential traps and will not advise you if the airline changes their schedules. Secondly as I stated before, if you run into problems or you have to change your flights, you are locked in to what you purchased. Always book with the airline, I have ALWAYS found better deals on their websites rather than any travel site, plus you know what you are getting, can choose your flights and have more flexibility if you need to make changes. I worked for an airline for many years and I have seen many people get burned using the travel sites, so just know what you are agreeing to before you make any purchases.
