The terrorists in Iraq are Islamic fundamentalists -- this means that what they want is a worldwide "ummah," or a world under Qu'ranic law. Unfortunately, like all fundamentalists (including Christian), this means that they do not believe in compromise ... it must be all or nothing, and they do not seem to understand that by insisting on ALL, what they receive is nothing. The most extreme sect is the Wahabbist, which even believes that other Islamic sects are heretics, deserving of death. There are millions of peace-loving Muslims who do not ascribe to these extreme beliefs of going back to the world of Mohammed PBUH, which is the seventh century -- no technology, no rights for women, no modern medicine, etc. It is impossible to describe it in this forum, but I will give you a list of books that might help you to understand to roots of the extremists who claim, with some accuracy, that much of the problem is brought about by the capitalistic, imperialistic, neo-colonialist practices of the Western world. That is, of course, not all of the answer. Nor is it correct that it is only greed (spelled OIL) that mandates Western/US policies in the mid-East, although there is definitely an element of truth to that statement. I hope I haven't just confused you more. Simply put, the goal of the terrorists in Iraq is the goal of terrorists anywhere -- to dictate politics through the element of fear.
Good luck in your search for an answer to the insanity in the world which your parents and their parents, and their parents' parents have made, and in which you will have to live.

It's a giant mess
The Sunnis (which once controlled all of Iraq) want to have more say in the new Iraqi government with the Kurds and Shiites.
It's about as friendly as the Palestinians and the Israelis trying to work together in the same peace plan.
Sorry you won't get a good answer from most Americans...they barely know where Iraq is on a map.

To destabilize the existing government and reduce American influence. There are different groups with different goals. There is no monolithic front. The Kurds simply want their own country. The Sunni's want much of the power they once held, and the Shiites want the political power that is due to a majority population. There are those in Iraq who want a theocratic form of government with Islamic law in force.

are they really terrorists? or are they defending whats left of their homes after they've been attacked, and their lives changed forever. What was George W. Bush's real motivations behind the attack on Iraq? What did they do to our country that motivated us to attack them? Iraq had noting to do with 9-11. Also take into consideration there are many different cultures that make up the population in Iraq, and the new government surely doesn't benefit them all.

it relies upon. the terrorists of the Osama bin encumbered faction are Jihadists. their motives are non secular in nature. their objective is finally to make all of us Muslim. yet loopy people CAN carry out sophistcated plans. loopy and stupid are 2 diverse issues. also, the Jihadist approach isn't sophistcated. it quantities to sneaking in and blowing stuff up. it isn't complicated, crashing something into something. it really is reckless b/c they don't care who they kill, it somewhat is why they're risky. they don't have any rules, b/c they imagine GOD is controlling them. the lybians were quite sophistcated b/c they were easily attempting to finish something. they could take over aplane and demand the launch of a prisoner. somewhat the jihadists are diverse than any 17 November we've ever considered beforehand. jihadists do what they do b/c God advised them to. they're excellent we are incorrect. they're sturdy we are evil, and there isn't any argument b/c God suggested. that is unique with the jihadists. ultimately, i'm getting the feeling that there is something that we do not study using them too. i imagine something replaced of their team in basic terms beforehand this jihad on the west that made it sparkling of their minds that this replaced into the favor of Allah. i somewhat imagine they imagine there is a few mystical, over the rainbow magical, holy grail that they are going to get and then be able to open the gate of tragabor and enter the gleem shagen. See what I advise?

OMFG...... None of you have a clue......
The terrorist goal is to unite Muslims to fight the United States as a means of defeating Israel, overthrowing regimes it deems "non-Islamic," and expelling Westerners and non-Muslims from Muslim countries.
How can you support the war on terror if you don't even know what it's about?
I'll bet most of you don't even know why the terrorists feel they need to defeat the US in order to defeat Isreal.

Which terrorists? The ones that are protecting their homeland. Or the terrorists that we from the beginning have installed in Iraq to cause chaos and confusion.

You have a right to ask question especially about things like these, i think it is terrible for us to have to deal with terrorism. These people believe that they need to kill everyone and they especially don't like the americans i can' say why, but i think they want to destro everything that's american, that's their goal, but by the help of god they will not succeed.

To provide themselves with a safe haven to operate from. While we are there we threaten that, so in return they use there no.1 weapon and this is the press. They know how humane the people in america are and use that against us. Its a tough position but unless we stay there numbers will rebuild and there power will grow making its threat to our homeland even greater.

First their goal was to kill as many americans as possible and ruin their plans for Iraq.
Now they have developed internal differences and are killing each other and the americans.
They are for the most part aimless now. Plain killing animals.
