Well as a new Christian you should read 1 John. Best advice I can give to you on Christian work is doing anything that keeps you envolved at your church. Witness if they have a day they go out and witness. Pass out tracts. Help in VBS. There is so much one can do. Stay busy for God.

I am SO happy for you. The best place to start reading the Bible is with the first four books of the New Testament....Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. These tell the story of Jesus...His birth, ministry, death and resurrection.

I wasn't planning to sign on to Yahoo Answers until later today, but something was telling me that I needed to come on here now....and your question was at the top of the list! It could only have been the Lord. He is awesome!

...to those you who don't believe, I am not mentally defective. I have been a Christian for close to 50 years, and I have seen the Lord work in my life many, many times.

Well, the entire Bible is important, though the New testament is a good starting point for a new believer as it covers many areas regarding the trials that new Christians may encounter. As far as work? Well anything you do can be done as though it is done unto the Lord. Pray on it and follow your heart, God guides.

that's great ... start reading the new testament... there is so much that happend in those first few books, matthew, mark ,luke and john that are really insprational. also watch some video acounts of the bible is a great way to learn and remember stories that can be later used when you need up lifting... find a christain friend at your new chruch and use them as support as you learn the ways of Christ. most importantly read your bible and pray every day... as for christain work do you mena as a career or as a hobby/past time/ recreation... it's great to work at a christain book store or volunteer at the church to work with the youth, or other church group...

A new christian welcome!!! I'll assume you mean a "born again christian", as a new christian your work is to learn the word of God, so that when someone asks you about God or the bible you will be prepaired with an answer.
As others have said, JOHN is a good book to start with also PSALMS and PROVERBS are also good follow up books. then I would read the entire new testament.

Oh I wouldn't read that brain washing tripe.

It is only the wise that know spirituality has nothing to do with religion.

It's a book. Do you believe anything that is written? or do you believe it just because the book is called 'the bible'? What if you hadn't read the bible yet and I went and changed two chapters. You wouldn't even know the difference and would take it as truth.

Do you mean having a relationship with the Lord? or Religion?
But congratulations on making that personal committment. You can go to your closest christian book store. There are alot of literature and bible studies made easy there. That should help you with your walk with the Lord. God bless.

Some great pointers given are:

Do all things as unto the Lord and not unto men.

As you do it to the least of these My brethren you do it to Me.

Unless you become as a little child you will in no way enter into the Kingdom of God.

In other words live your life to God in simplicity, honesty, and love. And the Holy Spirit will guide you the rest of the way. The "work" is to have a Kingdom attitude, then all you do will be a service to God and mankind.

Start with John, then Romans, Acts. Then Genesis, Exodus, Numbers. Skip over Leviticus and Deuteronomy for now-they are too tuff.

Check with your pastor about Christian work.

Romans 8 is very good.

The lifestyle you live will be your best witness to other. As far as working you can alway intercede for others, testify, join a prayer group, visit the sick, the elders, feed the hungry (donate to charity) , the list goes on.
