Joy L, i also have a tumble drier, but why would i be silly enough to waste money when there is a free sun to dry my clothes?

if it was a BBQ, the only thing i'd be complaining about is not being invited over too, lol.

I hang clothes out all the time to save money, plus there is nothing more refreshing then getting into bed on newly washed sheets that were hung outside.
Yes, that was rude of them. They should have waited till your clothes were down.
I say you take some round-up herbicide and tell them how you feel by writing a complaint letter in the lawn.

People are tacky that way. Next time you're about to put out your clothing.... call your neighbor or knock on their door and smile and say, "are you having a bonfire or cookout today? i am going to hang my laundry out and last time I had to redo it b/c I didn't notice your fire" That way you don't sound like you are critisizing them, you just sound conscientious. Then after that, they will start looking before they light up, hopefully *smiles*. I had a neighbor who parked in the middle of the street and kind of blocked my driveway. So I went up to him with a big grin and said, I hate to ask... but I am a horrible driver at backing up. I really don't want to hit your car. Is there any way you can move it up a little? He was so nice after that.... always looked out for me. You definitely get more results by playing the sweet happy dumb girl routine. LOLOLOL

Go over and tell them how you feel, ask them in future to be a bit more conciderate by telling you about there proposed fires, some people only think of themselves, that's the trouble in this country we don't speak our minds enough,, If that doesn't work then burn there house down ha ha only kidding..
You could move i suppose but why should you,

I wish... I was forced to give my garden up when I moved into a flat (apartment) so... no, it wouldn't annoy me... not at all, I'd be too busy enjoying the garden once again, and counting my blessings, after losing a large detached home and even larger garden, after my divorce;-)

I live in a smoke free zone, and so if that ever happens I can call the fire brigade out. I have never done it, think it is petty but several people I know have.

Or a barbeque, the polite thing to do would be to knock and tell you they need to light a fire and were warning you as you have washing out.

Luckily my neighbours and I have an understanding and whenever we have something smoke related we pop round and let them know first. But I understand your frustration- I would go mad!

hahahhahahahhahahahaha--just laughing at the situation- not the question------If you leave your clothes on the line, the same wind that might drive the smoke over, will surely air them back out!!
