My hubby cut the top of his foot with a hand held saw.
It is not bleeding at the moment but it is a 1" long 1/8th of inch wide, cut.
So does he need stitches or how should we treat it?
Someone told him to get stitch strips, are they any good?
Thanks so much for your help!!!

My husband wanted me to tell you what he did... LOL.
He was working on our house & bees got after him! well can you just picture it?
He swated at the bees with the saw and he cuts his foot!!! LMBO!!!
Since the bleeding has stopped and the gap is relatively small he is going to try the strips. He will be going to his family Doctor tomorrow for a tetnus shot.
He just doesn't want the high er bill when he can take care of it at his Doctor's office tomorrow.
Thank you all for your concern & your help!!! <>< Peace

Steri strips work if it is on a flat surface and not bleeding. If the cut is less than 1/8 inch, it might work. Questions to ask are:
Is the cut over a joint?
Is the bleeding not stopping?
Will I have to bend my foot to walk?
Does having a scar matter?
If the answer to any of these is yes, you probably need stiches.
Also, if you haven't had a tetanus in the last five years, you will need another one.
Good luck

if you go to emergency they will just run tap water over the cut until it quits bleeding, then probably just tape you up. I had a cut on my hand like that before, they will charge you 200-300 dollars for that service
my son had the end of his finger bit off by a cockatoo, we just took the meat and put it back on with a strip of duct tape, sterile padding underneath and some neosporin, it grew back on and after a year or so the feeling even returned, but his finger nail dropped off, it eventually grew back too, it was a lot of his finger, maybe nearly to the bone on the tip. a piece about 3/8 inches, it was a big piece of meat.

You should go to the hospital.
Stitches aren't the big worry though. I'd be much more worried about an infection. It'd be terrible if you treat the cut, and let the infection cause him to lose the foot. (I'm not exaggerating, I've got a friend who lost three toes to an infected blister he treated with just a band aid and a half shot of gin he poured over it.)

He should go to the hospital immediately b/c you can wait so long or they are unable to give you stitches. The strips do help, but the docs need to decide if that is right for his wound.

Better safe than sorry -- go see a doctor about this as soon as possible. You don't want it to get infected, and your husband may need a tetanus shot as well.

Go to the hospital! No more bare-foot sawing anymore, either.

take him to the hospital immediately,The attending surgeon will be able to judge better whether the wound is big and deep to take stitches
